Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-YSK posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

If you are a member, sympathizer or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- The majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

Unless included in our Whitelist for Bots, your bot will not be allowed to participate in this community. To have your bot whitelisted, please contact the moderators for a short review.

Rule 11- Posts must actually be true:

Disinformation, trolling, and being misleading will not be tolerated. Repeated or egregious attempts will earn you a ban. This also applies to filing reports: If you continually file false reports YOU WILL BE BANNED! We can see who reports what, and shenanigans will not be tolerated. We are not here to ban people who said something you don't like.

Rule 12- Linking directly to a video as a source is not acceptable.

Video only posts are responsible for an outsized portion of rules violations. Your post must contain text and meet the requirements of the previous rules.

Rule 13- If you file a report, include what specific rule is being violated and how.

Content Warning: a lot of this stuff is obviously NSFL

Don't go through this footage if you're not fully prepared to see things you may never be able to unsee.

It includes:

  • 64,537 videos
  • 17,905 photos
  • Ability to download individual videos
  • Searchable index
  • Exhaustive sources list (300+ journalists)
  • Geolocation data
  • Livemap with minute to minute updates
  • Victim list

In a news media environment that doesn't want us to know/remember that a genocide is even happening in the first place, archives like this will preserve the record for future generations and ensure that the victims of this slaughter are not erased from history.

Not looking at this, but I hope things come to and end soon and those responsible are brought to justice.

For those who are scared to click the link, I have tried to find who they are and found this about:

Witnesses of Atrocities and Genocide We archive what others erase. Permanently.

We are a group of researchers dedicated to archiving war crimes footage from Gaza and the West Bank. Our team submits all evidence to the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Hind Rajab Foundation, and the South African legal team at the ICJ. If you'd like to contribute or join the effort, connect with us on Twitter or Telegram.

Tech companies are working overtime to censor and delete content from Gaza. We are doing our best to archive it before it disappears. You can browse the documented footage in the Archive, and download the complete raw source collections from the Downloads page.

In the sources, they link to various independent-looking channels and pages.
It's hard to judge from this.

I'd like to see various reputable international newspaper (not all of them are controlled by the USA/Israel) confirm the quality of this work. In particular, how they confirm the authenticity of the documents, which is tremendous journalism work and not for the faint of heart.

Your skepticism is understandable and justified, but unfortunately it is precisely this skepticism that Israel knows how to exploit.

Not only does this criminal state invest billions in influencing public opinion—specifically targeting legacy media outlets believed to be reputable—but it also systematically kills journalists who attempt to provide independent reporting not controlled by Israel.

They are evidently pursuing a strategy so unscrupulous that it is absolutely unprecedented in recent human history. For obvious reasons, there are few reliable sources on this, but these older, scientifically collected data should give an impression of the sheer scale of the problem.

I’ll just copy a comment here that I posted more than a year ago—not the slightest thing has changed in the meantime; quite the contrary, since the U.S. continues to shield the criminal regime of Israel and thereby actively supports the genocide of the Palestinians:

Israel deliberately kills journalists, as evidenced by the fact that more journalists have been killed in Gaza in the last two years "than in the U.S. Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War (including the conflicts in Cambodia and Laos), the wars in Yugoslavia in the 1990s and 2000s, and the post-9/11 war in Afghanistan, combined".

Edit: Fixed the link to the full paper as the url changed since my original comment.

This is the Palestinian Holocaust. Denial should be just as strongly criticised as the Jewish Holocaust.

Is it a new website? It doesn't load for me. Probably my DNS won't let me in.

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 21 hours ago

Loads for me.

What trajedy, i hate to see it, i know its happening, and yet i cant help but carry on with my day to day, compelled to work, so i can keep the house and food and safety of myself. Its an immense guilt. Ive thought about quiting my job and liquidating my stocks, and unbanking - starving the economic war machine of at least my self, and put me on a path that only the ones who commit can follow down - but then i thought about the reality of then being homeless, insuranceless, etc in the us, and its ever growing political instability - and i just cant choose that, and its aweful that i have to make that choice at all, and its a trajedy im not selfless enough to meaningfully help beyond just the invisible "thoughts and prayers"

If in 50 years im asked what i was doing during this time, im sure to dissapoint and be viewed as an enabler of these horrors

I dont like how that makes me feel, and i think its important that im uncomfortable, i hope it spurs change in myself - which then hopefully leads to change in the world

The people who say that shit are the same kind who would say all Germans were nazis. That's generally not considered a couth opinion and is rarely tolerated

The Japanese Americans sitting in internment camps weren't responsible for the Nanjing Massacre or Unit 731.

You're not personally responsible for what Israel is doing to Palestine and Lebanon, or even for what the US did in Iran. There's nothing you can do to stop it, beyond voting.

I'll amend what I said. If you're an eligible voter and you either voted for trump and congressional republicans, or chose not to vote against them, then you share partial responsibility. Otherwise, you're just as frustrated, hopeless, and powerless as the rest of us. That's not a moral failing.

For people that had been following the conflict and the injustices done to the people of Palestine, it was really surprising to see the crowd supporting Israel lose control of the narrative after october 7.

It was amazing how so many bottom up content creators were able to overrun the people at the top. I’m worried they will be able to get the cat into the bag again.

For example I did my part on Reddit, but with the recent overhaul there I’m out. Of course the take over of tiktok by Ellison is legendary, but there will always be alternatives as long as the whole internet hasn’t been turned into a draconian web of surveillance.

Realistically, what are your options? Protesting and being pepper sprayed, locked-up and fired from your job. That does not make their suffering any more endurable and it certainly won't end it.

In my book, your behavior is morally at least neutral.

[–] diabetic_porcupine@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Yeah like wtf is anyone supposed to do? Just take care of yourself and if you happen to be in a position of power to do something then by all means you can do whatever you want… but take care of yourself

[–] brachiosaurus@mander.xyz 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah like wtf is anyone supposed to do?

There are a lot of things that people can do and to make a change is easier than people believe. Something as simple as a million of people boycotting corporations and not using their services for a week would create a precedent so big and a chain reaction that could affect the entire economy. Governments and people in power spend billions to keep the system rigged as it is, every single little thing you do to make things better makes it harder for scum to keep on with their evil schemes.

[–] Kanda@reddthat.com 5 points 21 hours ago

Getting a million people coordinated to do something in this world of maximum apathy is a huge feat, not easy

[–] mattyroses@lemmy.today 5 points 1 day ago

How do we avoid being the Good Germans, who kept on baking while down the road they fed people to the ovens?

At what point does morality not only allow, but demand, we use violence against those enabling this?

Is it even possible to organise online then irl to get big enough and not be ignored?

[–] huppakee@lemmy.world 35 points 1 day ago

i think its important that im uncomfortable

+1 on that

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago

I was thinking earlier this year, that it is immoral to pay taxes right now. The only thing that money goes towards is causing strife elsewhere. We have to take out loans to do anything useful or productive domestically.

There's also genocide.live

[–] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 3 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

That's a perverse choice of URL.

[–] brachiosaurus@mander.xyz 2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)
[–] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

intentions aside, think about how messed up that sounds?

[–] unwarlikeExtortion@lemmy.ml 7 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Isn't that the entire point what with the world watching the genocide live in general and refusing to do jackshit about it?

[–] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

That's insane and sickening to the core, but the URL I was referring to sounds like "Netflix for genocide fans"

[–] ParadoxSeahorse@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

That’s Israeli surveillance eg. Corsight AI, Palantir etc

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 41 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm a-okay with knowing the high level details and not seeing the photos/videos, but thank you.
