It's suspiciously pricey to enjoy the protections the Fourth Amendment supposedly guarantees all Americans (never mind enjoying protection from entirely reasonable searches and seizures too).
Is this about phones or Sim cards, because they are very different things.
Article just says phones. So that means I could buy a used phone and still buy anonymous SIM from a gas station if this passed?
Personally I've always thought if was more privacy friendly to buy a used phone.
Not only do you have it not linked to your identity, but the uuids are likely linked to someone else's identity.
It's already a thing in Poland. You can buy a Czech SIM card/starter on an auction website to avoid the ID thing. Plus it's also funny to have a +420 area code
Every country that has implemented this has a bypass: go to a heavy tourist area, use a foreign accent at the shop, and ask the shopkeeper to activate it for you.

The US is certainly the most influential of the Americas. When people refer to "America" they mean USA. When people say "North America" they mean USA and Canada, even though Mexico is technically part of North America. I am neither American, nor part of the Americas. I just find it funny that people have been using term for centuries and some nationalist Mexicans and south Americans are just now getting upset about it.
And most don't even realize you live in North America!
