This looks alright. Although I found that in contradiction to the producers expectations, I am excited by the appearance of everything new, and all the cameos by old characters and actors make me groan.

I love Patrick Stewart and the gang, but they're done. They had their stories and they got their conclusions (repeatedly). Same with Steve Rogers. He does not belong.

I don't mind an 'oh shit _____ is back!' occasionally, when it makes sense. But to me, it now largely serves as a weight on these stories. It's a sign that the writers don't have time or confidence in their protagonists or developing characters.

I want to see Yalena, and New Cap, and Doom, and Namor! I want to see the FF and Gambit. I'm down to see Thor, because his character continues to grow, and his presence makes narrative sense. I want to see Thor filling the role as team leader, and the weight of all he's been through appear in that performance. But please, no more 'oh shit ____ is back!'

No mas, Gracias.

PS: Oh! and more Ironheart. Her show sucked, but I'm still down with Ironheart! Give us more of Riri from Wakanda Forever!

They're gonna spend this movie assembling 1,200 heroes.

Luckil they have the TVA who are excellent at bureaucracy.

To be honest, that's half of Infinity War and that movie is amazing. It's the first third of Avengers and that movie is the best super hero movie.

o sheeee

my negativityTbh with you all, to me it feels really really fake. I can't stop thinking how bad the momentum to this film is because of how poor phase 4 and 5 were. There were a LOT of pointless stories in that bunch. and the fantastic four feature very prominently but they've literally only existed for one movie, in the viewers mind.

but at least it was exiciting to see it show up on my feed here.

In my opinion, this IS the momentum. This movie isn't the conclusion, it's the setup.

My predictions___I think this movie is gonna be mostly AvX: Avengers vs X-Men. Doom's post-credits sequence in First Steps is him giving the FF a warning that the multiverse is collapsing under its own weight after the creation of too many branches, and that's when we get his dialogue in this trailer. He's gonna tell them that worlds are colliding, and the only way to save your universe is to destroy any universe that starts to intersect with your own, but even that even that will only buy you time as another collision will eventually happen and you'd have to stay destroying universes constantly. The FF are gonna be idealistic and say "no that's not how we roll" and instead they're gonna go to the next universe they collide with - Universe 616 - and try to work together with the Avengers to save both universes. But then the X-Men universe is gonna collide in as well, destroying the universe the FF came from, and most of the rest of the movie is the Avengers and X-Men fighting each other to save their own respective universes.

Doom blocking Stormbreaker with a finger is gonna be the end of the movie: while the whole AvX storyline is going on, Doom will be like "pfft fine ignore my advice, Richards; I have another idea" and he's somehow gonna track Loki down and steal his throne at the centre of the multiverse. Once he does, Thor's gonna try to stop him and fail, and he's gonna basically do his own version of the Thanos Snap where he destroys the multiverse but keeps the elements of various universes that interested him, and makes a single universe out of the pieces, called Battleworld. Tees Secret Wars right up.

I swear to God, if they nerf the X-Men and kill them off in the beginning of the movie to give the Worf Effect rub to Doom like they did to Hulk with Thanos in the beginning of Infinity War, I am done.

[–] MimicJar@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

The universe is gone, but I don't think they'll just kill them all off (at the start). I expect the X-Men universe will explain to the MCU universe what is going on. There will be some trust issues, but Monica will be the connective trust character.

I’m thinking we get Doom who is a villain, but his motivations for this are to do something to save or put the multiverse right on a correctional track. Something where he’s a villain, but heroic aspirations. Similar to Thanos, but this isn’t about necessarily killing anyone and instead trying to save everyone because the alternative to not doing his plan is worse.

[–] MimicJar@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

I'm guessing it's multiverses colliding, and he's trying to save his (Fantastic Four) universe. Or maybe Doom has already lost and he's fighting back. Maybe Loki tried to save the mainline MCU timeline, but at the cost of Doom and other timelines. Doom is now fighting Loki, who was just trying to protect Thor and his timeline.

[–] 2piradians@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I won't be surprised if Doom alters his appearance to be Prof. X, Cap, or anyone else to suit his needs. Stark is a powerful choice to influence Thor, as would be Odin, Loki, or Heimdall.

Also won't mind some of in-fighting exposition as long as it serves the story. Gambit vs Shang-Chi looks interesting...hopefully it's not just one of them popping up in a strange place that leads to it.

Not sure about the accent.

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I loved it. It’s different than other iterations, but it works for me.

[–] Tango@piefed.ca 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Fair enough. Also, it seems Thor is leader now.

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Interesting. I have seen a couple comments in various places saying that, but the trailer leads me to believe that he is playing the part of Hulk and coming back from the cosmos (and potentially multiverse) to warn about Doom and trying to bring all the factions to put aside their battles from incursions to work together. Maybe that means he will become leader though?

[–] Tango@piefed.ca 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well, even if he is leader, that's likely to only last until Steve shows up. Until then, though, he does basically have seniority. Steve retired, Tony's dead, Nat's dead, Clint retired... it's really just him and Bruce from the original squad, and is Bruce even in this one? Or is he retired now too? Ruffalo's getting pretty old-looking at this point, and is nearly 60. I'd have to go back and check the cast list, but if he's not in it, then it's only natural that the rest of the Avengers would, to some degree, look to the only founder member left for leadership.

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I agree and think that he will yield to Steve. We will know more of Banner’s fate in Spider-Man because I’m also curious. We know that he’s involved somehow with a faction because of appearing with Captain Marvel in the Shang Chi end credits scene.

I’m wondering if there’s basically a West Coast and East Coast Avengers. Then there’s the New Avengers (Thunderbolts). So many factions. I don’t think Thor is on any team and if Sam and Banner are split then I bet Thor would side with Banner.
