If the post isn't tagged with the actual language you're blocking, or if the account itself isn't identifying as a bot, then there's not much Lemmy or Sync can do about it.

Oh, I'm not blocking languages, I just have my language set.
I kind of suspected that it was because the accounts, or communities were missing configuration settings. That's what you're saying. Right?
Do you have an example of a post or comment (link) showing a language you don't want?

Sync for Lemmy's advanced markup is kinda fucked. Spoilers especially. The button in app actually does a reddit styled one that only works for other Sync users.
In addition to what the other person said, some of the posts you may run across may come from federated non-Lemmy sources such as Mastodon, so your normal Lemmy language/bot filters wouldn't work there.
Eg: this recent Mastodon post on !opensource@lemmy.ml
