If you've got some nostalgia for playing the Game Boy Advance back when it was the thing, then this might scratch that nostalgia itch you didn't know you had :)

I was very strongly considering buying one of these, but the shipping is nearly an additional 40% of the price of the console.

Have you tried Aliexpress?

From what I've seen, that is the option which saves the most on shipping. Anbernic's own site adds way too much with shipping, but when they sell on Aliexpress that drops so significantly. I've seen a few users saying it is the way to go, so maybe it is worth a look!

Thanks, will definitely take a look!

Edit: Even with the "coupons" on AliExpress, it's still ~$20 more than the advertised $57 intro price on the site ($75 all-in). Unfortunately I think it's just a tease price, and they are hiding some of the cost in shipping.

Man Chinese sites always kill me with this, so much bamboozlement and obfuscation across the board, and good luck getting a refund if anything goes wrong

Literally what stopped me from putting in my payment info. Even the cheapest tier (16GB w/o SD card) puts it at nearly $90 to purchase. I just bought an Ayn Thor Pro (with 4.0 processor) off Swappa. With that, my Steam Deck and my Switch 2, I think I'll be fine for handheld GBA emulation.

...but fffffffuuuuuuuuuck, the form factor of the SP and the fact that it was my second and most memorable handheld in my life (aside from my DS Lite) is calling me like a siren.

If units were to be shipped to the US, would the price be increased at all?

(And I totally understand, with those handhelds the power to run GBA games is well in hand, but the form factor of this RGSP is a beautiful nod to the original!)

While this is nice, something like this with joypads is even better

[–] Xilence@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

Fun fact, Anbernic makes one with joy pads.

A dedicated Game Boy Advance console, literally designed to be a love letter with thumbsticks just doesn't feel right to me! Luckily for you though, they make GBA-esque one with the sticks: the RG34XX SP

I have an Anbernic RG353v, It’s a nice little machine. This looks like a great SP clone
