I don't do a lot of travel between cities, so mostly the driving routes I take are pretty close to home.

I have a couple of appointments over the next week and have prepared by planning my driving routes to avoid Flock cameras in my area entirely.

Of course deflocked.org may not be perfectly up-to-date, so it might have some false negatives, but at least I'll be doing my best.

It's my intention moving forward to simply never drive(/do the worm/parachute/unicycle/etc) anywhere a Flock camera can see me moving forward. We'll see how long that remains feasible as my city, I expect, keeps installing more cameras.

For anyone else also doing this, how far out of your way are you having to go? For me, it's not terrible, but I don't know necessarily what the density of Flock cameras is like in other cities.

(I'm in the U.S. midwest if that helps.)

A few resources,

Deflock.org has a map based on openstreetmap that shows the positions of ALPR cameras. I would highly encourage you to contribute if you find any unlisted cameras.

Dontgetflocked.com is a website for routing. It can generate navigation routes that avoid, or limit exposure to the cameras listed on deflock.org.

All of these are specific to the US and Canada. Other countries may have ALPR installations, but they are not listed on deflock.

Edit: deflock has a toggle switch for Canada. Only two countries.

Something you can also do is put up big signs that point to where the flock cameras are. In my city they hang giant posters at different intersections pointing that a flock camera is coming up.

apparently alot of people reported flocks were not even aimed at main roads, mostly where people gather like parks and near businesses.

I would try to avoid them, but there’s literally no way across town without passing them. Town is split by a river and they have cammed up basically every bridge in the area. Two pointed each direction to make sure they don't miss anything in the two lane roads, no less.

I would have to go to at least two towns over to get through. Probably further.

Id go vandalize them but the person across the street from me has a ring camera pointed directly at my property, so my coming and going is already recorded…

Yay surveillance state!

Does DeGlock have an API? Maine it could be incorporated into routing preferences...

Just because you're not home doesn't mean you were the one that was out vandalizing cameras.

just destroy them, cause if you don't there won't be any place left for you to exist without being stalked by them.

I’ll just disguise myself as an Epstein file. I’ll be ignored an instant

There isn’t a single way out of town that isn’t covered.

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 7 points 13 hours ago

I've got no routes around or out of town that avoid them. They're literally everywhere.

They have me mostly boxed in, tbh. There are side streets but there are also rivers and there are few bridges and they’re at a lot of the bridges.

flock cameras on kayaking routes?

Lol. Was a joke. Aimed at trying not to be biased about modes of transport.

AXon is quietly replacing flock in many places, hopefully the publically doesnt notice.

Thankfully they're only at the local Lowes and Home Depot in my city.

Guess where I will never be shopping again.

Also not going to frequent the tire shop or the fast food joints that share the lot. The stench of fascism needs to affect them as well.

The O my thing that I am adjusting is the number of flock cameras in my city.

[–] RoidingOldMan@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I checked the map and I can't realistically get to the freeway without passing them.

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 8 points 13 hours ago

I can't leave my neighborhood without passing one.
