That's disgustingly low. You're a nation of formerly well kept slaves.

[–] MyVeryRealName@lemmy.world 51 points 1 day ago (2 children)

This is what happens when you call everything socialism.

Yeah, the American "definition" of socialism often seems to just be everything left of fascism these days. It's really weird how America has weaponized the term.

[–] jimmy90@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

soooooooooooooooooooo true

not that socialism, no no no, the other cool one with all the stuff i like

why don't they specify DSA socialism and MAGA capitalism, that would be useful information

I think you mean nearly half of democrats don't view socialism positively.

[–] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And Jeffries took that personally.

[–] lemmy_at_em@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I take Jeffries personally.

[–] stretch2m@infosec.pub 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I sure wish they'd stop calling it socialism. But anyway, don't you just want to shake those "no opinion" people? How can you have no fucking opinion?

[–] hoppeduponcoffee@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

If they take these polls via texts/mobile calls, that could be a portion of people they contact who don’t respond or decline to participate.

Regardless, I don’t trust polls anyway, especially when all of this is going to be used to justify the insurrection act anyway.

[–] lemmy_at_em@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

This is why we should rely only on prediction markets. Polling is an outdated technology.

We need to reclaim the word from the right, it's working

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 5 points 1 day ago

A couple of weeks ago, it was at about 3O%. The Citizens are tired of waiting for the parties to serve them properly, and are quickly carving their own political path. The parties better figure this out, and either get on board, or get out of the way, because we're no longer taking orders from them.

We're in control now, and they will serve at our pleasure, so..."What have you done for us LATELY?"

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

To be honest, most Americans have no idea what socialism is.

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That sounds like socialism to me

Very nearly communism.

[–] lemmy_at_em@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

That would be communistic in nature And I hear that that's against nature.

[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago (7 children)

I wonder how much such polls are going to be used by the Maga fascists to justify election interference and a new red scare.

Right now I don't think either side is looking out for the average American citizen or the longevity of the country. My next vote is no confidence.

[–] 2hundredpancakes@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Remember kids both parties are exactly the same, they've caused the same amount of damage, both hate gays and immigrants the same amount, both have destroyed the same amount of regulations on businesses that harm us. So don't bother voting because they're exactly the same. That'll fix things for sure.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Both parties are blatantly corrupt, violate constitutional safeguards, both are rewriting history and reality, both parties cancelled infrastructure spending, both parties cancelled economic development and new energy projects, both parties cancelled student loan assistance ……

[–] Jspelts@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago

Both parties make their money by serving their puppet masters who steal money from us. The middle class used to capture 25% of GDP back in the 70's. Now we're lucky to capture 7%. And we've had plenty of politicians from both sides that just made the problem worse. It's not Dem's vs. Rep's, it's the rich enslaving the poor. Always has been, always will be.

[–] LuckyDevil@piefed.social 1 points 23 hours ago

I will never understand this take.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 4 points 1 day ago (3 children)

94% of democrats viewed Harris positively during the 2024 election.

[–] wyrmsbane@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

There is no way that is true. Harris sucked, and I voted for her. It's the other choice that was far, far worse. Dems were basically forced at gunpoint to vote Harris.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No I’m pretty sure those were the democrats who viewed her favorably.

Who was the other democratic candidate?

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Are you saying between two options, she was worse than Trump? She most definitely was positive amongst other options.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 1 points 1 day ago (5 children)

What I’m saying is she didn’t win at 94% so how are socialists going to at 58%?

[–] SoupBrick@pawb.social 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Polls on views of an ideology and party polls of a candidate are a bit different.

Regardless, these are real views from people who respond to polling opportunities, so they will most likely vote in kind.

You can absolutely make the argument that the sample size is too small to get an accurate read on how the US would vote in a presidential run, but it is not really a reason to say that DSA candidates will never win.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I’m pointing out how out of touch from reality the average leftist is in this site.

[–] SoupBrick@pawb.social 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

By misunderstanding what a poll indicates?

What this poll says to me is that Socialism is not seen as a boogeyman AS MUCH as it used to be. Which is pretty damn good news for anybody using the word in their campaign.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Tell me how pointing out that 58% is less then 94% is ‘misunderstanding polls.’

[–] SoupBrick@pawb.social 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Your take right there is exactly your misunderstanding of polls. Those are not comparable due to what they are polling.

Polls on views of an ideology and party polls of a candidate are a bit different.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Harris had 94% positive polling amongst democrats and she lost the general.

Socialism is polling at 58% with democrats which means it’s probably under 25% of the general population.

[–] SoupBrick@pawb.social 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If your argument is to not rely 100% on polls, just say that lol.

DSA is going to keep on fighting and winning, at least sometimes. I am going to back whoever is against Republicans with my vote, and I hope you do to, even if they have the word Socialism in their platform.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It’s not me you have to worry about it’s general democrats and independents staying home because they have jobs and retirement savings and don’t identify with a bunch of commies wanting to destroy them.

[–] SoupBrick@pawb.social 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I guess we will see if those numbers are outweighed by general democrats and independents who don't have a home of their own, jobs, or retirement savings and see the changes they want reflected in Socialist politician platforms.

25% already say they’re into it.

I watched the video to get an idea of what they were asking.

I'd be curious to see what the support was for the actual policies that are being labeled as socialism.

[–] notsure@fedia.io 3 points 1 day ago

I am about as asocial as you can get, I would rather use a coarse bastard to flay my skin than talk to another human...i think socialism is better than capitalism. Take from that what you will.

Finally the sane people actually expressing opinions?
