I love this idea conceptually, but the biggest problem is that unless you really know what you're talking about (and are a multi-domain expert), how the hell do you separate the true breakthroughs from all of the breathless media hype?

It did take some effort to separate the media hype from the real breakthroughs. At the time I was doing it, there were some real breakthroughs in medical, energy, etc, that were obvious breakthroughs- often they would be featured on places like Quanta Magazine as a video: https://www.youtube.com/@QuantaScienceChannel
