Today’s game is Minecraft Legacy Console edition. All this Pokemon and Assassin’s creed I’ve been playing lately has left me wanting to play something a little calmer. I remembered the PC decomp of Xbox 360 Edition and booted it up with a world and just took it easy.

I found a horse and accidentally locked myself into the tutorial. I know it’s mundane but there’s this calm, almost amused sigh that comes from locking myself into for a few seconds. For anyone not familiar, when you see something new the console editions will give you a pop up saying “Hey. Here’s a new thing. Press A to hear more and Press B if you already know about it”. It does this for every world. I used to be running and jumping around so much that I’d press A. The issue is it locks the A button so no more jumping. That whole experience to me is just nostalgic in a way. Like if you ever visit an old game console and remember a flaw it had that you have to deal with again? Same feeling.

I ended up finding this island where I built a shack. Night settled and I hunkered down. Zombies break doors on normal in this one so I locked myself in and rushed to finish the roof to stop spiders. When day came I found a few bones and tamed a dog I found from skeletons who burned up.

Finally after all that I built a bed and lit up my little house. The cobblestone in the floor is from when I dig a stair case down to mine stone. I didn’t light it up so a creeper spawned down there. I panicked and just barricaded it up to protect myself. After all that I felt like I had accomplished quite a bit and decided to get back to Pokemon Platinum. While waiting on friends to catch up to me I was farming the Pokédex so that break was well needed

Isn't the 360 edition literally just Beta 1.7.3 but with limited world size? Actually I know it is because I was there when it was new lol

At its core I’d assume so. I mostly like it over Beta 1.7.3 because of nostalgia and the small differences lol. Small reasons to prefer it, I know. But it makes me happy

The younglings may call it Legacy Edition, but it's still Peak Edition in my heart.

Also nice shade of red.

Still my favorite edition to this day. The PC Port I’ve been playing is still a little buggy but hits like all the nostalgia spots

Bitch it's called PlayStation 3 edition haha (and PlayStation 4/Xbox 360/Xbox One). I started Minecraft on P.E. Beta, then Xbox 360, and have fond memories of things like using shoulder buttons to cycle through the hotbar.

I managed to find a pack for Java (despised Bedrock since launch) that has many Xbox Title Edition tutorial worlds, it's so great. Also, the digital editions were updated a bunch, so the best way to get the authentic console experience is to buy an early release disc copy, that is the only way to reliably preserve the first several versions.

It’s technically Xbox 360 Edition ported to PC that calls itself “Legacy Console Edition”, then I added a mod that replaced the glyphs with PS3 Icons (my go to controller is PS3) lol.

My first brush was Xbox 360 Edition like 16 years ago. I still have the disk somewhere I think.

You mentioning the tutorial world reminds me. I’ve been wanting to backup my old 360 Worlds I made with my sister way back in the day before that ancient thing’s hard drive craps out and I lose them forever

Yes do it!! In case you didnt know, if you have an S or other angled 360 the HDD is pretty regular to get to, but if you have the Arcade or Elite (detachable top storage) it's super easy to unscrew it, remove the converter plug and then you can use a SATA to USB cable for easy transfer (or plug it in internally ofc for faster speeds). I also used a converter program to migrate my old 360 worlds to Java a while back so it's definitely doable :)

I think i have a Elite thankfully. I have like 5 Xbox 360s of Varying models though so i may be wrong. I'll have to check all of them because i'm not actually sure which one is my childhood one is and which one is one i picked up to fix as a project. Thankfully i have some confidence getting to the HDD wherever it is.
