I was trying to find more retro video games involving vampires (as I tend to do) when I stumbled upon this one. The premise seems straightfoward enough but they made the vampire look like such a creep it really does looking like you're "stalking" these women and not "hunting" them.

Just look at this explanation that comes up before you insert a coin. Look at that vampire!

Anyway, the gameplay is basically pac-man. You move around the maze trying to touch women (like a creep) while trying not to let priests or nuns touch you. But there are so many priests and nuns moving around the stage (and moving faster than you can) that it's extremely difficult. So this isn't a good game but it's certainly an odd one. And I just had to share.

Here's a longplay of the game.

Vampire-stalking women could be even more interesting.

Hey there big boy... shouts the crowd of beautiful, scantily clad women.

Blah, said Dracula, as he shrunk again into the shadows.

I can see why it's only a prototype, it looks... interesting, but not fun.

There was clearly an idea here, however creepy it might be, but it's not fleshed out enough.

This somehow reminds me-- one of the favorite super-retro webgames is about a vampire trying to build up its fortitude, take out the popes blocking it's path, and make its escape.

Simple graphics and gameplay, but the puzzles are clever and fun!

Trying to out-jank Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, eh? I didn't see any game-breaking bugs in that 14-minute longplay, must try harder.

I don't think that being a vampire hunting people down in a maze of streets is necessarily a bad idea. If they'd gone for a stealthier, keep-out-of-sight and strike from the shadows approach, like perhaps a vampire might do, then they could have had something. The original Castle Wolfenstein was released in '81 for inspiration, and this does have 'better' graphics - more stuff moving, more detail, more colour. In fact, probably looks better than most versions of Metal Gear, from '87. You'd obviously want to keep it quick so that people keep putting money in, but I don't think 'arcade sneaking game' is exactly an over-done genre, even now.
