It's so weird. Dude has been screaming "I'm a massive piece of shit!" with his whole chest for longer than I've been alive and every republican suddenly said "this guy is the second coming of Christ". Republicans are fucking weird.
For the wealthy Republicans he is. He's exactly what the Southern Strategy was hoping would come along to be used as a tool to solidify the Party's power. They just didn't realize he was there the whole time because he sat in the Democrat box, but when he got pissed at Obama and switched over, they used the media controls they had built up to make sure he got into place. It worked as intended.

He was never for workers to begin with and y'all were warned countless times, and observed it yourselves with his first term, let alone his entire history of conning workers.
