Kind of amazing. In my head this is basically saying "we can't protect people in parts of downtown Vancouver and rather than change that, it may just be easier to abandon the area.

I think it's worth noting the dynamics here. It's a lawyer's group that was requesting this and the premier said there were no plans to change the location. We can't truly know, but in my head, my kneejerk response was to get the feeling the lawyers also didn't want to be in a neighbourhood that reminds them of the existence of poor people (outside of those they work with, of course, who are usually trying to dress up).

I'm sure some lawyers would like to be away from the poor but at least one lawyer was hospitalized after being assaulted leaving the court.

Oh noes. Perhaps we should move the entire downtown to Langley

Your response to someone being hospitalized for going to work is "Oh noes" ? That's pretty gross.

It's pretty gross lawyers apparently think they're special as opposed to the rest of the plebs downtown.

So, say someone were hospitalized after being attacked for being gay and the gay community asked the city to step up and increase community safety, would you also think it's pretty gross the lgbtq community thought they were special as opposed to the rest of the plebs?

Shocking that things have gotten this bad.

We need to work towards a society where people are less desperate.

I wonder how the businesses around there are doing. If the area is getting worse, those restaurants and shops probably need to move out which makes the area even more abandon.
