I remember for the first like 2-3 years this game was out it had mediocre reviews. Has it really earned its now Mostly Positive rating? I hadn’t heard about any major 180s from the studio but I also haven’t been following that closely.

I think it ended up with more positive reviews because there were some deep sales and even some free events that boosted players later in the game. I picked it up when it was free and played a few days. it was fun and could be challenging. But if it were released today no one would even look at it, the game is pretty dated.
Not really. Far as I recall, when they left a note about moving on in 2025, it was seen as an abandonment rather completion of development, with some players complaining about some long-standing bugs never getting fixed.
Can't say what happened since because I gave up on it back then due to some kind of frustration I can't remember.
I'm guessing it's coop jank fun and enough players didn't stick around long enough to wade through the bad stuff.
