Fuck you, Carney.

Is he going to start throwing people in jail for striking when their employer posts 10% year over year but only offers 2% to employees? How about throwing teachers in jail for striking when the province delays negotiations by >6 months?

Banker's gonna bank.

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 1 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

It's looking more and more like things are gonna come to a head.

[–] nik282000@lemmy.ca 1 points 20 hours ago

Yeah, Canadians are going to collectively give up the sliver of stability they have to overthrow the ruling class :/

[–] cecilkorik@piefed.ca 6 points 21 hours ago

I want the power to break governments with collective action. I fully expect the government to defy our collective action, but I think we can win. Fuck authoritarians.

The rail strikes scared a lot of Capitalists.

Carney is doing this to show them that labour doesn't have power in Canada and something like that won't happen again. It's moreorless a prerequisite for everything he's promising to do.

Workers: "We're striking!"

Govt: "Nope, back to work."

Workers: *burns down govt buildings."

We didn't gain striking rights through peaceful means. And we're not going to keep them by just accepting they no longer exist. You keep them through the exact same means we gained them with.

My union gave up the right to strike, long ago

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 8 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

Then you don't have a union. It's incredibly obvious that the Epstein class has captured the vast majority of Union leaders.

They should receive the same treatment traitors to the unions used to receive. Sick of pretending that violence isn't the answer when it obviously is. All these fucks have lost the fear of being dragged out of their homes and beaten to death in front of their families.

Polite discussion isn't going to make them remember. Luigi sure did though, even if it was short lived.

With you on everything here, but responding to ask you, please don't use the term "Epstein Class".

Reason: good people like you and me read it as "Scumbag Billionaires," but nazis and nazi-friendly people read it as "Jews". I have a lot of Jewish friends, I'm talking about people not afraid to call a genocide a genocide here, who do not need any more grief right now.

edit: turns out I was addressing a (now blocked) actual nazi.

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 5 points 22 hours ago

If Jewish people take offense to the Epstein class, then they might want to do some introspection.

Religious Jewish people are not the Epstein class, Israel on the other hand absolutely include themselves in that term since they are 100% involved in the collective violent rape of children.

If a Jewish person can't separate those two, that's shitty for them and they should figure out why.

The current Nazi's will be just as happy to slaughter your friends as they were back in WW2. Nazis are always going to actively redefine everything in their favour, catering to them is a fools errand.

You keep them through the exact same means we gained them with.

Said everyone, not knowing how. What I mean is my own and surrounding generations have no experience with anything but peace time and privilege. Have zero cultural framework in organizing like that. I've only really experienced slow decline, rarely things getting better.

I think it's the same in USA when it comes to opposing Trump.

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 3 points 17 hours ago

I know how they were gained. It was through violence. And through violence is how you retain them.

Until the Unions do what they used to do, which was literally dragging bosses out of their homes and beating them to death, nothing will change for the better.

People erroneously believe that talking to CEOs and the Ultra Wealthy will get them what they want. But those people operate near solely on violence. They do no give a single solitary fuck about our words. They do care about their own safety.

[–] TheSecondVariety@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The rail strike was absolutely ridiculous. CP and CN absolutely colluded to create that and the government did absolutely noting to seperate the strikes or hold them accountable.

Also don't forget, CN and CP LOCKED OUT the union. Also they stopped shipping any new dangerous goods weeks before the lockout to make sure that those that relied on DG shipments to power generators in Quebec and clean their municipal water supplies would be loosing their shit on day one of the lockout. They also posted messaging warning people about potential unsafe drinking water if the lockout went on too long.

[–] scutiger@lemmy.world 3 points 22 hours ago

Not to mention the postal strike and the Air Canada cabin crew strike that were shut down because the companies outlasted the government's patience rather than the unions'. At least the Air Canada union had the balls to say no and got a concession immediately.

[–] cecilkorik@piefed.ca 1 points 21 hours ago

Correct, we are absolutely being played like a fiddle by billionaires and corporate oligarchs. It's essentially irrelevant whether Carney himself is doing the playing or being played himself, he's just the elected messenger for the billionaire capitalist class.

[–] supersquirrel@lemmy.ca 4 points 22 hours ago

Carney was the wad of toilet paper Canada stuck in the dam to stop the flood of sewage/Polievre, he is nothing more.

[–] mHtt@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Canada's Supreme court says this right is constitutionally protect. I hope Mr Carney is ready to PAY OUT:

[–] cheat700000007@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

He's not the one who pays for it

[–] mHtt@lemmy.ca 1 points 19 hours ago

regrettably, thats a separate issue

[–] DeadEndLink@lemmy.ca 1 points 21 hours ago

LPC MP's sold out every working class Canadian. The official opposition supported this union crushing bill.
