People like to hate on Insurrection because it was such whiplash after First Contact. It is a genuinely good episode of TNG and has a lot of great moments, like this one.

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.
~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.
~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.
~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.
~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.
~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.
~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.
~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

Fun will now commence.

@jawa21@startrek.website for realizing that the line used to be "want to be added to the sidebar?" and capitalized on it. Congratulations and welcome to the sidebar. Stamets is both ashamed and proud.

I've said multiple times that it works well as a 2-parter, just not a standalone film. Certainly the 2nd best of the TNG era movies.
The same can be said for Generations. All Good Things... is a more cinematic experience.
But a happy cry in celebration of a dream realized.
Can we discuss how in that font 9 looks like 3 because they consistently cut a line through the beginning of each character but somehow S gets a special exception because...?
i3δT
and
i33δ
Never really noticed that before. When you don't focus on the letters they are easier to read.
Oh man thank you. I wasn't getting it because my knowledge of Star Trek isn't that complete amd I was trying to figure out if this was a plot hole between i387 and i338, which I guess are actually 1387 and 1398.
I think the S being at the beginning of Star gives a sense of containment, followed by the through line that mimics the warp trail. Generally, I prefer the credits font as it's more consistent and legible.
You can't see it, but the top of the S curve actually comes forward, too. So when the letters all got sliced, it was unharmed.
Ooo turn it up, I like this song.
And I've got faith...
^…of the heart…^
I'm sorry for making you rewatch The Naked Now
As the first regular episode after the pilot, it is a doozy.
DATA. GETS. DRUNK.
also fucks.
And Wesley takes on the Kevin Riley role of taking over the ship, minus the beautiful singing.
Yes, but drunk wes is creepy and weird. Drunk kevin is space koala levels of awesome.
Why don't you just see it in your head?
Why don't you shut the fuck up before I slap the bitch out of you.
How I wish that scene had gone down.
You know what Wesley's mistake was? He wasn't born an Irishman.
Yep, beautiful scene in Insurrection. Gets me every time. Thx for sharing
Hits so much harder with the years long journey. Ghost candle warts and all.
You can definitely see that he's tearing up in the last panel. Beautiful stuff.
You are always consistent @ummthatguy@lemmy.world .... you give me tears when I quietly try to hold back my laughter and smirking .... or you give me tears of nostalgia with posts like this
Glad to share that with you. Just going to that scene to get the shots got me... Had to watch the scene in full, first, of course.
Forgive my ignorance, but is it explained how Geordi doesn't see "the way" we do? Is it some property of the visor that doesn't allow him to see in normal wavelengths or is it just that it's through a prosthetic rather than his natural eyes?
Yes. They show us his visor vision in an episode. It's about how you'd expect an artificial vision device to look in the 90s.
The VISOR (an acronym for Visual Instrument and Sensory Organ Replacement) allows him to see infrared and ultraviolet. Not to mention lots of other useful environmental info.
