I dont care about screens at all... low refresh rate, low energy consumption, very dark lowest brightness, small.

My og OnePlus Nord is still going strong with Lineage, but if it fails at some point, I feel that the Pixel a phones are kinda the best on offer at the moment, with the long update support, the hardware, the price, and the possibility to throw Graphene on there.
Never really saw the point in flagships after mid-rangers started becoming pretty good.
They seem to be pushing their display port output for the desktop mode, are there any news regarding that ?
I really hope it has an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor..
I doubt that the 8a will get a better fingerprint sensor than the 8 or 8 Pro
Which is a shame, since they are so bad.
It probably won't because it would be much superior than whatever crap Google has in their flagship line. Big G won't like it if their budget phone is actually better at things than their top of the line model. If it changes, then expect it to change in the main series first.
Why does a flexible display matter in a rigid device? It's not folding so what difference does it make? In other news I'm thinking about updating my 7 since the charging port is not making solid connections anymore. It's on my car mount sideways all day every day as a trucker.
Flexible OLED panels have smaller bezels, better viewing angles and are less prone to exhibiting a rainbow effect. You can check Dylan Raga's review of the Pixel 6, 7 and 8 to see why the 8's display is an upgrade over the 6 and 7.
Bezels are good though. I like being able to hold my phone and not use the touch screen accidentally.
But that's just your preference tho, most prefer smaller bezels for the looks and design is focused on what the market wants. I always use a case and screen protector anyway so maybe that's why I never had issues with accidental touches.
Ya, kinda tired of hitting the edges of my samsung, and their accidental edge touch protection's kinda useless.
The fact that there exists a solution to protect against accidental edge touch means that having the digitiser/screen all the way to the edge of the device is a flaw in the design. π€£
Yeah I wouldn't mind some app guidelines that say no requirement to touch the edges of the screen, keep everything useful away from the edge with some padding
And then you could set the phone to ignore those touches so close to the edge
Try getting a needle and digging out all the compressed fluff in the charging port. I did this (had to dig pretty hard as it was really squashed in) and saved a phone that was otherwise almost unusable!
Just spitballing I dont know for sure, but wouldnt the flexibility make them less brittle and less prone to shattering?
Rigid is a relative term
Have you considered just buying a wireless charger? I bought a MagSafe compatible case, and wireless chargers for the car and one for the nightstand
For when internal components come unglued and start poking into the underside of the screen
I really wish they'd ditch that stupid camera bar. Every phone case attempts to hide it and it just makes the whole thing needlessly thick.
id honestly rather have the visor than a lopsided camera bump
Either way beats smooth flat glass that is constantly inching towards suicide.
My main issue with it is that it is way too thick. Most lopsided camera bumps somehow are more compact and thinner. You'd think with the amount of real estate that visor takes up they'd be able to make it flush with the rest of the back somehow, or at least match the thickness of phone cameras
Google better stop crippling mic volume on their phones for anything other than their own buds.
Only now they're adding display port? Has it taken this long to release no one wants your stupid downgrade of a dongle
