Maybe I'm the only one who didn't know this, but Aves supports built-in video editing, which was a feature I loved from the non-libre version of Simple Gallery, but well, we all know what happens with those apps.

I'm not using the Libre version of the app so this feature may be not available in that version, but both the Libre and this one are available in the F-Droid (or IzzyOnDroid) repositories, as far as I understand the only difference is some proprietary libraries, but I'm not sure at all about this, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Tried aves from google store and fdroid both dont have video editor. My old non updated simple gallery has it. Fossify gallery also doesn't have it. ๐Ÿคท

The Fossify Gallery app, which is basically just a fork of Simple before it got screwed up, has (I think) the same video editor that Simple had. So, if you liked that one, you could always try Fossify. Unless Aves is better of course :-)

I don't know why but Aves is slow on my phone. I noticed terrible UI stuttering and lags while opening photos. It also looks ugly to me.

So far the Aves video player is also the only foss player I've found where you can freely zoom into a currently playing video.

Just player can also do it!

Kinda, it only let's you zoom into the center. With Aves I can zoom into any part of the video and then drag my view around, just how you would with a picture that you're zooming into.

Other than that though Just Player is great, and as long as I don't need zooming it is my go to video player.

Wish they would add a photo editor as well.
