Communick is a professional, privacy-focused service provider who supports open source and the indieweb. We support back the fediverse and the developers by pledging 20% of our yearly profits to the main development teams.

All users from this instance are expected to follow the Code of Conduct.

At the moment, only the admins can create communities. We are still figuring out what type of content we would like to provide here, but the general guideline is that we want to build a home of good discussion about culture, sports, and anything that can inspire and elevate our spirits.

Communick also provides managed hosting for Lemmy instances if you want to run your own.

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Rules

  • Post only about bans or other sanctions from mod(s).
  • Provide the cause of the sanction (e.g. the text of the comment).
  • Provide the reason given by the mods for the sanction.
  • Don't use private communications to prove your point. We can't verify them and they can be faked easily.
  • Don't deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
  • Don't harass mods or brigade comms. Don't word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

c/otomegames@ani.social: Otome Games

Backup for !otomegames@kbin.run in case the server is down for good.

Rules

  1. Please stay on-topic: post about otome games.
  2. In an effort to keep this community more discussion-based, please only post fanart and the like if you made the art yourself. Your own fanart, cosplays, etc. are very welcome.
  3. Don’t be a jerk.

3a. No bigotry or discrimination. This includes but is not limited to homophobia, racism, sexism, etc.

3b. Be respectful of other peoples’ tastes. You may absolutely despise an LI and want to discuss it, and that’s fine. Casting negative aspersions on or directly insulting people who love that LI is not fine. What we find interesting in fiction does not always directly translate to real-life desires.

  1. Please don’t directly link to pirated content.
  2. Tag any NSFW content as such. If you are not sure whether to tag it that way, err on the side of caution and tag.
  3. Please indicate spoilers. The following format works on both Lemmy and Kbin, but if you are using an app it may not. See this comment for which apps handle spoilers.
Spoilers for OtomeGame: The GameThis paragraph talks about something that happened at the end of the game! This paragraph also talks about something that happened at the end of the game!

That will appear as:

Spoilers for OtomeGame: The GameThis paragraph talks about something that happened at the end of the game!

This paragraph also talks about something that happened at the end of the game!

c/hailcorporate@infosec.pub: HailCorporate

/c/HailCorporate is to document times when people act as unwitting advertisers for a product as well as to document what appear to be legitimate adverts via native advertising.

What acts as an ad, is an ad, no matter if it was put there sneakily or because someone has become inured to a brand so far that they don't even know they are a walking ad.

We have strict "Don't be a jerk" rules that are enforced with immediate banning. The guidelines are more likely to result in a post removal or warning, but breaking them could result in a ban.

Lemmy allows free access to their API with no charge, rendering it affordable for third-party app developers to continue their services. The lack of prohibitive cost makes it easy to mod from mobile, promotes innovation, and gives unlimited user choice, and effectively opens up a significant portion of the culture we've all come to appreciate. Indeed, every third party app developer on Lemmy made essentially the same statement: "I don't have to shut down the app." Apps can also show ads which is a primary source of revenue. So not only do they not have to pay exorbitant fees, they can even mitigate those fees with ads. For these reasons I am calling a site wide blackout until the API begins to cost more money.
