Simply checking out the media without prior research

Sorry, I should have been clearer, as I wasn't aiming to suggest it was a genetic trait. As another commenter indicated below, as well as another in this thread, I was asking in relation to the upbringing perspective.

Although I'm well aware upbringing isn't brainwashing, and so even those anti-abortion parents couldn't prevent their children from being for bodily autonomy, but I thought it worth asking about to see what others might think. If you read through some conservative leaning texts, some of them unambiguously talk about having children for the express purpose of perpetuating their beliefs, so at least some will view this trend as in their favor.

Also to be completely clear here: I'm pro-choice, and for bodily autonomy.

Won't this potentially contribute to an increasing population of people supportive of, or otherwise apathetic about, abortion restrictions, supposing those taking this course are largely against abortion restrictions?

Thanks! I always wonder how people handle navigation with setups like you described.

Do you use your phone as a remote for it, or how do you navigate its interface?

Now that you mention it, I remember something similar! I may have to follow up on that to see (but I'm also curious of others' responses, hence asking).

It's been awhile since I've messed about with this, so I don't remember (and you may not either, so this is an open question), but wouldn't it produce the effect even if disconnected from an antenna?

If so...Would the same principle be in play of it picking up on general EM waves to cause the effect?

By tv static, I mean like this btw:

3D render of old tv set with animated static on its screen, as if tuned to a dead channel

Any indications yet of how this may compare to similar group features or focuses via Friendica and Mobilizon respectively?

Thanks! Er...What does C2S in this context mean? I read over some of the details on Vocata (it sounds really cool!), but remain unsure what's meant by C2S here.

Thanks, it looks cool! It brings to mind some of the terminal-based connections some have made, if I remember right.

I have some decent ideas as to why, I'm asking mainly as a hopefully fun contribution here, and to maybe learn some interesting plumbing info!

By this I mean, organize around some single person for leadership, or in other contexts focus on a popular figure. Even societies that tend to be described as more collectively-organized/oriented tend to do this.

People are people and are as flawed as one another, so this pervasive tendency to elevate others is odd to me. It can be fun and goofy as a game, but as a more serious organizing or focal principle, it just seems extremely fragile and prone to failure (e.g. numerous groups falling into disarray at the loss of a leader/leader & their family, corruption via nepotism and the like, etc.).

Not that I'm complaining, I just find it kinda interesting given how so much stuff demands you sign up & register to do much of anything on a service or site.

Is it simply a cool cultural element that's persisted since IRC's been around? Also shoutout to all the old hat IRC folks out there maintaining their servers and enabling drop-in questions this way, much appreciated!

Looked around and can find plenty of tech news related communities and several tech communities for learning/discussing specific tech subjects (programming, programming languages, etc.), but can't seem to find a more open-ended, all levels tech questions community.

Closest I found to what I'm looking for was !tech_starter@lemmy.ml, but that's more aimed at beginners (which is a great idea tbh).

Have I overlooked where one of the tech communities is more open to questions alongside news? Will admit I was skimming after awhile of searching, so I may have!

Do you cave and use both hands? Do you take the chance and try to use them one-handed when more actively using them? Or do you ultimately submit and get an accessory to kinda help, at least with keeping a hold of them?

Edit:
l o n g f i n g o r

a few other answers:just use both hands, get an accessory, and/or balance on pinky and develop the toughest pinky imaginable
spoiler bonus: find some smol phone you like and savor it for as long as it works :::

It feels like the universe wants to eat them before I can, sometimes...

There seem to be plentiful options for text chat servers, so I'm curious for those that self-host their own, what their preferences & experiences have been with them.

Also those mentioned in the title were just a few examples, if you run something else, e.g. Revolt or Mattermost or something else less popular, would be interested in reading about it!

From what I gather, I don't know that there's a new norm in this regard yet, besides recognizing that gifs are increasingly old & clunky (despite being fun & amusing), and so I don't know if mp4s or webms or something else might be better if wanting to keep a site lightweight while still having some animated elements.

Bars are notable for staying open late, but I'm not really familiar with alternatives that might operate similarly. I think many cafés (at least around my area) tend to close a few hours earlier by comparison, which would be my go-to for an alternative otherwise, so what other options are there?

So, I basically missed that transitional phase when telephone booths were more commonplace. This has left me with a number of questions about the ol' telephone booths, but this one strikes me as one of the funnier and more unnerving ones to ask.

Was it possible to get locked in a telephone booth? Did some models have locks to keep folks from messing with them? If so, who...Would manage the locks? Local authorities & the phone companies?

Were there any notable stories of a person somehow getting trapped in a telephone booth in otherwise ordinary circumstances (i.e. no disaster had struck)?

Or is that more of a stereotype, and there are some (maybe more?) out there using some form of graphical interfaces/web dashboards/etc.?

It's struck me as interesting how when you look up info about managing servers that they primarily go through command-line interfaces/terminals/etc. It's made me wonder how much of that's preference and how much of it's an absence of graphical interfaces.

And in a similar vein, does the "Hot" sort type still cause issues as noted in some older posts?

The reason I ask is that I wonder if perhaps the default should be different, or if some encouragement to run a different sort type for awhile after spinning up an instance might be wise. As-is, if other software is any indication, many will stick with the defaults and the folks that join may leave if they get tired of them before even considering adjusting them.
