Recently started using mail merge.
Combined it with some vba scripting(didn't learn it well, just found some scripts on the net and modified them a bit) so that I could get pdf files for emailing by clicking a macro button from an excel sheet.

Also, go to use the info about the keyboard mouse right click button when someone's Right Mouse Button was not working. https://www.online-tech-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Windows-Right-Click-Button.jpg

I mentioned only computer things because of recency, but please do share your experiences in other topics too.

Thank you. Been thinking about finding good leftist quotes to as my phone wallpaper. Are there more, shorter quotes?

I'm curious about the intro reading list. I've tried the manifesto and listened to some audiobooks by Dessalines. Are there newer articles that are recommended, that summarise/improve the pre-existing content? Especially ones that talk about how the things were/are to be applied.

Is there incessant breeding?
Aren't TFR's going down in most regions?

The best thing then would be focusing on the places that lag behind.

In my opinion, the best initial steps would would be increased literacy and scientific temper together with good quality public education and healthcare
Together with properly planned mechanisation n automation this would help most people.

How much does the cattle rearing industry contribute to global emissions?

Thank you.
All the best to you, in achieving your goal.

Landmine obliques (don't know the name)

Is it this exercise:

I've tried to follow their recommended routine, but never really stuck to it.
I think looking at learning the proper technique together with doubting whether it was working made me inconsistent. Also was afraid of hurting myself doing dips. Still am.

Maybe when I build up some base strength, I will be able to try it better.

With dumbbells, I started with simple bicep and tricep exercises. I could see decent improvements and added other stuff slowly.

I've started doing some pike-pushup-kind-of exercise.

Thank you, for the recommendation and for reminding me of it.

Thanks a lot. Especially noting the effort in typing out the detailed answer.

Thank you.

My aim is decent health itself. I do wanna get stronger and get a more flat-ish tummy, since I've read something about hip to waist ratio. My main focus is to have decent strength n muscle.

Started doing simple dumbbell exercises recently and was curious about what others are doing.
Been trying simple neck exercises too. No weights, just chintucks and isometrics.

Please do share your experience/suggestions/opinions on the it and related topics like sports, calisthenics, general physical health etc.

Do you know any exercises that are rare? Or ones that seem special to your locality?

Regarding food:
How do you meet your protein or calorie goals? How do you track it? Especially food that is local to your place.

On a tangent:
Are there cool plants that are less known or that'd be useful if more people tried growing and including them in their diets? Do mention your locality or climate of the plant.

Offline Chess, Minesweeper, Sudoku etc. on your phone?
Using an RSS reader and catching up on news?

[–] Achyu@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 week ago

stay tuned for our next episode!

When will it be airing?

Only the living have a problem with anything tho

[–] Achyu@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I don't have enough knowledge on the subject to suggest a solution.
But asking a question along a tangent since you mentioned heat:

Which colour does your van and its roof/interior have?
If its a darker colour, maybe trying a lighter colour would help reduce the heat gain?

I do get things done. But sometimes I think that I could have started some things early, avoid rush. Also a sort-of negative perfectionism that does the opposite, where I end up delaying the start while thinking about the best time to start and how to avoid possible trouble etc.

How do you categorise and adjust accordingly about such stuff?
If you are someone who got out of or reduced such behaviour(or helped someone to do that), what were the things that you/they did? How did you/they start out and progress etc.

Thanks in advance

Recently got banned in a community when I brought it up, when they talked about the latter.

I'm Indian, didn't really have to read too much(on such treaties and other stuff. We do learn about the dates, major groups involved and our own people) about WW1 and WW2 before getting on the internet forums.
But how is it in Western countries?

Also, is the Bengal famine of 1943 taught?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bengal_famine_of_1943
I only got the gravity of the situation after reading about it and seeing pictures on the net.

Are there any other events that should be more known by others, in your opinion?

I hope this is not too political. If it is, do forgive me, I'll delete this.

Edit:
Recently read about the Travancore famine of 1943, that killed around 90,000 people. It happened in my state, Kerala. But I never really knew about it.

Apps that I know:

  • For images - Pocketpaint, Freepaint
Fossify Gallery has a basic editor with draw, crop and filters. Tux paint is also nice to draw stuff.
  • For video
    • Video transcoder allows basic cutting of audio n video.
    • Saw an app called Bunny media editor, that allowed basic image and video cropping and cutting.
    • I've also heard that some people use Termux for it

Are there other apps like these?
Which all apps do you use to edit images/videos and make memes etc?

One that use the camera to give an approximate distance between two objects?

Tape measure has some features, but needs a known reference object in the same plane. And most of the predefined objects are not common where I live. It does have an option to define custom reference objects.

But are there any apps that do not need a reference object?

Thanks in advance.

NetGuard - https://f-droid.org/packages/eu.faircode.netguard/
TrackerControl - https://f-droid.org/packages/net.kollnig.missioncontrol.fdroid/

How was your experience with them? Differences in battery life etc.

Another doubt:
I had tried NetGuard some years ago to restrict internet access of apps like Gboard n Gdrive(I use the pdfviewer associated with it. Any lightweight foss alternatives to it?).
Was planning to use it again, but saw that eventhough they have a recent update, their Github doesn't allow issues and the latest pull request are from 2023. Is there some change in the app? Have they transferred to Gitlab or Codeberg.

I don't know much details about programming, so asking the doubt here because of the Simple apps transfer issue that I heard recently.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Mentioned the usecase for gdrive

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.sdf.org/post/19863081

I use f-droid to update the app. Didn't see the recent updates and saw the failed build after a search.
https://monitor.f-droid.org/builds/log/com.jerboa/71#site-footer

I don't know much about programming... not sure whether this is an issue to be resolved from the side of Jerboa or F-droid. Had doubts whether I should inform of the issue in Jerboa's github and sharing this here because of that.

F-droid seems to have done a recent cleanup of apps, focusing on non-foss stuff. Not sure if that has an effect, but sharing the info.

^Maybe related:
Builds of com.dessalines.thumbkey:96 and com.dessalines.rankmyfavs:11 seem to have failed too.
https://monitor.f-droid.org/builds/build (The page lists failed builds at the end)

Anyone know where the issue is to be notified to? Or where I can learn more about the issue? I did try to read the log file and this message seems noteworthy:

No hash for gradle version 8.9! Exiting.

I don't keep auto-sync on repositories turned on and use an rss feed from the fdroid subredd to follow updates to the repo.
I also know of https://monitor.f-droid.org/builds.

Are there any other methods or official feeds?

If not favorite, ones that touched you in some way.

I'll start by mentioning some movies from my mother tongue(Malayalam of Kerala, India):

  • Mumbai Police
A crime thriller (Came out almost 2 decades ago n was very striking for the time)
  • KammaraSambhavam
Political/Historic satire/drama (The main actor has some cases on him, but the movie is quite good)
  • Kathavasheshan
  • Devasuram
Conservative sigma male upper class Kerala dude getting character development. I really liked how the transformation happened in it
  • Maheshinte Parthikaaram (Mahesh's Revenge)
    Not an action movie.

From my country, but not in my mother tongue:

  • Super Deluxe - A Tamil movie that I recently watched, quite unique
  • Enthiran (Robot), a Tamil movie
Has over the top stuff, but is fun to watch
  • Viduthalai(Liberation), another Tamil movie
  • Agent Vinod - A Hindi spy-comedy movie

The anime that I like are Hunter x Hunter, Parasyte, Samurai Flamenco, Gintama.

  • I have recently started using RSS feeds to get news and other information. It is quite time-saving.
  • Recently found out that word could open pdfs for edits. Used to upload pdfs to websites to get it converted into some editable format. I think Libreoffice can do the same.
  • Got that spinning type of mop and mopping has become a bit easier.

Newpipe and Just (video) player have this function, but the former cannot play offline files and the latter cannot play audio files. I can rename the audio file to mp4 and play it in Just player, but it doesn't have a background play option.

From what I've searched on the net, in both apps the feature us implemented from ExoPlayer. On F-droid, Auxio audio player mentions ExoPlayer, but does not seem to have the feature available.
Are there any foss apps that has the feature to Skip silence for audio files?
