Short, sweet, and satisfying. Good video.

It certainly has become one for me at any rate..

I used to care a lot about everything, and now I’m just so so tired of trying. Apathy feels like a poplar grove; just keeps growing, spreading, and outcompeting everything else until it takes over and ruins everything, because it takes an absolute ton of energy control spread.

It also serves to keep people isolated, and prevents kids from forming lasting relationships that can later be used to discuss and compare issues and organize.

Honestly it’s just so useful. It should be the default.

I picked it up when I lived in Houston, but when I was bartending and stuff after returning to my home state, I’d use it heavily.

Interestingly, though, it made people think I was from another country entirely? Because in absolutely no other way do I sound even remotely southern. (I do use various non-American slang, but not with strangers) Was always a blast to have someone ask where I was from, and try to get them to pinpoint why they didn’t think I was local, when I was born 15 minutes from where the conversation was taking place :p

Yes, there is. It’s called superbia. Looks like it was founded in 2019.

I guess if you are already with them you can overlook it because it’s easier, but I certainly wouldn’t encourage new people to be potentially swindled along with you, wtf?

Certainly not with an “eh”, like that’s normal shit to have happen (it isn’t at all, for the record)… comparing it to a more egregious actor doesn’t help your case either.. those bad things are still really bad even if someone else is worse.

How did random low level call center employees even manage to steal that much, if not poor organizational security?

Ooh I hope to retain your optimism in the next few years…

Is that supposed to say Donald Trump..? Serious question because it definitely doesn’t say that at all no matter how bad your writing is..

how does pop handle touchscreen devices, do you know? The only machine I have left that I’d install something different on is my laptop, and its touchscreen but fully discretionary. The others are a server which I’m not touching because PITA, and a shitty ram-deficient thing I use for watching Plex in my bedroom, but it doesn’t run anything well at all for whatever reason - I tried antixlinux, mint, and a few other lightweight distros, and they all ran like shit. Probably failing hardware, idk.

Ubuntu handles touchscreen and hdmi output ok, it seems, but that laptop is still windows for now because idk if I need it to be windows for my next job.. I guess I can reinstall it, since keys are hardware encoded now.. for that device I don’t -really- need good file management, just compatibility.

I’ve thought about pop, but never really looked into it because nobody ever, like, recommends it for anything I guess? Like I never hear about it..

You know in swing states dem voters also got a shitload of maga shit? Cuz we did. I have never gotten so much conservative propaganda in my life as I did this last election season in isolation.

Swing state residency is an absolute burden. I’m super left, but seriously. Harassing 1/4 at most of the population incessantly for months every 4 years doesn’t actually make people vote dem either. The whole thing is absolutely fucked but ffs leave us alone! We don’t need 50 texts a day telling us we matter. We fucking know and don’t want that burden.

I don’t give a flying fuck about your 3 points. Give me something to vote for or shut the fuck up (I have always voted dem, and I’ve canvassed and all, because the alternative, but I will probably swap to literally anything better at this point since they are useless af and I'm tired of being a political scapegoat.)

Just some blokes making sandwiches, nothing to see here.

I honestly wish I liked mint because there’s such a robust community for it, but I really can’t stand it. My first Linux experience a decade back or so was Ubuntu and it felt -right- like android. I liked it very much because it did all the things I needed, and it felt good to use, like something I was familiar with (android!). The power file management was an absolute bonus and I just love it so much. But it’s based on iOS allegedly? I fucking hate iOS on mobile but maybe it’s the macOS? Idk. It’s not at all like iPhone iOS at least.

And I haven’t found the same experience on any other distro despite trying several, so here’s me back to Ubuntu every time.. because it feels good to use.

And “Ubuntu bad because reasons” and I get that for not me, but I don’t have the energy to figure out how to make Debian do what Ubuntu just already does. And the really niche distros I’ve tried idk how to make work for my needs, as noob.

At least it isn’t windows..

I know this is going to sound really dumb, but I want to help unionize my state, and I am aware of two heavily exploited and under-represented groups.

I am qualified to work in entry-mid level positions in both of these fields but.. I want to unionize them from the outside instead of dealing with the shit from the inside. I can’t work those places because they are pretty abusive and I have an exceptionally low tolerance for that crap at this point, plus I’m kinda very much a communist, and this whole model we have doesn’t work for me.

Instead, I want to form/expand an organization for at least one of them. The one I’m looking to focus on is lab workers, and if that works, go from there. What would I need to do for that to happen in Wisconsin? Is it even possible to form an external workers union? I know there’s some limits to public sector bargaining in Wisconsin, and while I don’t think that applies to private sector, I don’t know whether a private company with government contracts (which a lot of them have) would count as public.

Are there any resources for this sort of thing? Maybe national unions that would want to expand if there’s enough interest? I’m super serious about doing this, so I’m really soliciting information.

I am looking for a contact manager to replace a google account or iCloud account.

I am currently on iOS (and actively dislike it after being on android since forever) and looking to increase my privacy by cutting ties with my google accounts.

A Google account presently manages my contacts, and I do not want iOS to take over this job, I’d rather manage them myself.

I tried searching for FOSS contact managers but all I found was client relation software which isn’t what I want at all…. I don’t think.. I just want my phone numbers and names saved for easy personal use.

Is there anything good for managing a personal phone book?

I am looking for a plug-in for media requests from users.

My users suck, and won’t tell me if I’m missing stuff they want, or my copies are bad (with a few very helpful exceptions) so I’m looking for some sort of integration that like tells me what they are looking for, or makes it easy for them to ping me a suggestion to add/fix. I don’t watch most of my library, so this is a big concern.

Most of my users don’t know my number or email because they are my partner’s friends and I don’t use the email address my server is tied to, for security (nor are messages usually passed to me on the rare occasion they are sent to him). So “have them text you” isn’t really a good option, and it’s enough of a struggle to get them to use it in the first place that adding another standalone app isn’t going to do it either.

Preferably I would like something my end users don’t have to do anything to access, maybe a few button presses in their search interface? Like “search returns no results, request this content” as a button maybe?

Does anything like that exist?
