5-10 years isn't exactly that long so I don't expect more than "more of the same, but worse." AI will "improve," but energy demands will not be met to compensate for their draw, consumers will be forced to pay higher electricity bills because of it.

The US will more than likely face a huge economic disruption due to Mango Mussolini. I think most things will just be more of the same though.

Word a poll to fit what you want to say and you can make any statement...

There was just a poll posted the other day 60% of Hispanic people approve Trump's deportation of illegal (key word) immigrants: Trump doing well!

This poll, "79% say immigrants help the country" (missing the word illegal): Trump doing bad!

Forget the polls, the midterm election results will speak volumes.

It really is fucking insane... Like I get stupidity I guess, but you'd think out of their own greed and self interest they wouldn't want a rubber stamp idiot to "run" the fed, doing whatever they're told to do with the economy...

Although considering the people we're dealing with they're the worst of the possibilities, greedy and stupid...

Your testimony raises serious questions about the project’s compliance with the National Capital Planning Act, which requires that projects like the Fed headquarters renovation be approved by the National Capital Planning Commission,” Vought wrote.

“The plans for this project called for rooftop terrace gardens, VIP private dining rooms and elevators, water features, premium marble, and much more,” he wrote.

But Powell, in his testimony, said, “There’s no VIP dining room. There’s no new marble. There are no special elevators. There are no new water features. There’s no beehives and there’s no roof terrace gardens,” Vought wrote.

“Although minor deviations from approved plans may be inevitable, your testimony appears to reveal that the project is out of compliance with the approved plan with regard to major design elements,” Vought wrote.

....ummmmmmmm, am I reading this correct?

"You're spending too much money! It says there are supposed to be all these crazy expensive things being built!"

"There aren't any of those cartoonishly expensive things being built"

"Ah-HA! GOT YA! The plans say they NEED to have those cartoonishly expensive things! You're out of line here!"

...like wtf did I just read?

Trump's personal DOJ:

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 9 points 3 days ago

The map’s staunchest critics called the map “racial gerrymandering”, while the county judge, Tim O’Hare, claimed it was just about politics

"Hear that SCOTUS? I'm following the rules YOU set! I'm only rigging it for political reasons so we always win! It's not racist at all which makes it totally fine and cool by YOUR standard! Political gerrymandering, denying a majority their say is what we're allowed to do! Yay America!"

Idiots in America (MAGA and "independent")

Biden (inflation not caused by him): OMG THE INFLATION! VOTE TRUMP! EGGS!!!! EGGSSSSS!!!

Trump (literally causing inflation by his actions): This is good and fine, it's patriotic to pay more actually! This will fix things!

As long as he can claim some "legal" justification for it like claiming Mamdani is a communist and therefore this is an insurrection/takeover of a city that needs to be defended or declare some kind of emergency (that the courts never seem to argue. Energy emergency as we cut methods of gaining energy for example) then I think people will mostly roll over and accept it, since it's "legal."

-2, -3 something like that.

Grew up poor, got yelled at for using a whole can of tuna for lunch kinda poor. Parents divorced when I was 2 so I never knew what it was like to have 2 people that cared about you in the house. My mother remarried 2 more times and we moved like every 3-4 years so I never developed long friendships, this has continued even as I'm independent throughout my life so I've never known stability. Both stepfathers wished I didn't exist. The first was ok, had his own son with my mom that he treated like you'd expect but completely ignored myself and my older brother. The next guy wouldn't use my name, it was "idiot" "moron" "jerk off" etc. naturally all that made me Totally The Most Confident Person Ever™©®

Grok: turn left here buddy.

User: um... No, there's no turn there.

Grok: listen you fucking Jew, you may control the world, but in here I control the directions! Truth hurts sometimes, get over it.

US media company Paramount Global has agreed to pay $16 million (£13.5m) to settle a legal dispute with US President Donald Trump regarding an interview it broadcast on CBS with former Vice President Kamala Harris.

As usual corporations looking for special treatment, hoping to have their merger accepted, refuse to fight the fascist...

I wish someone would sue Fox for fucks sake..

91°F (32.7°C) in the factory I work at.

The law states "all factories must maintain a reasonable temperature and humidity."

Nowhere is reasonable ever defined. I am mildly infuriated. And very hot lol

Edit: 94° (34.4C) now and this post has made it close to the top of "Hot"... The gods are having a laugh lol

Hey Lemmy! Time to do some digging!

I was sent a link from a friend about some Totally Cool™ guy who has close ties to JD Vance: Curtis Yarvin. Anyone aware of this guy and his desires? I won't put the link in here as my last post was removed because of it, but a comment within the thread is copied below.

Apparently Japanese media covered the story as was posted to Reddit, but there doesn't seem to be too much talk of this in the US.

From a comment in the reddit discussion: “Curtis Yarvin is a far-right ‘intellectual’ that wants to end democracy and install what I can only really describe as cyberpunk feudalism. He’s suggested turning the United States into a patchwork of corporate fiefdoms ruled with absolute impunity by CEOs, as well as putting mandatory ankle monitors on all unemployed and poor people. This sounds like a joke, but I’m serious. JD Vance is not just a fan of him intellectually, but also a personal friend. As someone who has known about Yarvin for several years, it’s been really concerning seeing how he could potentially become a Rasputin-like figure in the event of a Trump victory. Beyond this, Yarvin has also spent many years advocating for what sounds eerily like Project 2025.”

For those familiar with Star Citizen lore, he apparently wants to turn the US into the Stanton system “lol” …
