Because it is one of the most popular ones with your search criteria?

IT is really not a difficult question.

Another issue of course is that people who are used to commercial social media think Mastodon has a "need to take off". Mastodon did fine with 80 000 total users, it does not need to make a profit. The whole idea of "be popular or die" is such a capitalist concept.

The elaberate answer is: Microtransactions for an open source Free As In Freedom project is absolutely frakking insane. I must assume the OP is a troll from Twitter delibertely out to destroy the foundation of the Fediverse.

This is what donation drives are for.

On the instance I am on the admin currently have collected enough last donation drive to run the server for three years.

Mastodon is an open source Free-As-in-Freedom non profit project. That is the POINT of it.

Which sounds like spam to me. Was your account flagged officially as a bot? Then you might get away with it. Otherwise I would say it fills the definition of suspicious behavior / spam and definitely the content most people on say Twitter would block your account for.
