I hate to be the one to break it to ya but the NBA is a soap opera and embracing this has made the players and owners far wealthier.

I mean it’s impressive but 46 min in November seems like a bad sign for a brittle guy in year 18.

He is properly rated. If he goes back to back in Phoenix with two Finals MVPs we can reopen the discussion but right now dude gets plenty of love in relation to his career achievements. His only two titles were after joining a 73 win team, arguably far less of an achievement than either Giannis or Jokic solo titles.

KD has no shot. Tatum makes it a race if the Celtics win 60+ games and the Nuggets struggle because of injuries. It’s not impossible to see a narrative where Tatum wins because Jokic and Embiid have MVPs and the Celtics are the clear 1 seed with Tatum doing great with plus minus and averaging 30 and 10. The odds that the Suns have a better record than the Celtics are way smaller than the odds that KD misses 20 games.

35 and 15 while the Sixers win 60+

Anything less and it’s almost impossible. He’s gagged in the playoffs too much, injury or not, or he’s not getting past Giannis, Jokic or honestly AD, Tatum or Luka if any of them have better records. The league is all about narratives and Embiid has won and choked in the playoffs every year. Giannis and Jokic have titles and it’s more interesting to see them get into Bird and Magic land with 3 than Embiid winning a second Karl Malone MVP. Ditto Tatum giving its first MVP since Bird or Luka for his insane counting stats or AD for finally leading the Lakers with an assist from Bron.
