Now is the time for Europe to rally behind Ukraine. We really should have upped military funding and arms production in preparation for this outcome.

Bernie Sanders reflected on it stating that it was the Democrats failing the working class that won Trump the election, and people in the Democratic Party denounced him for it.

Yes to all the above, and probably a mix of bots and terminally online people getting involved. Not sure what year everyone started becoming unhinged but I think it was at least mid-2010's.

People are now being perma banned from r/pics of all places for merely posting on the Asmongold subreddit. Yes, it's become something of an anti-woke echo chamber in recent months, but it's the main subreddit of Twitch's most popular streamer.

And now we wondered why 74.7 million Americans voted for Donald Trump last week. Because maybe telling your voters that they're Nazi scum if they don't agree with you isn't a winning strategy, like the world view that most Reddit moderators have.

What's stopping him from doing a Nayib Bukele, calling a state of emergency, mobilising the armed forces and using them to coerce the House and Senate into passing laws?

[–] Clbull@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (4 children)

I hadn't even considered that...

If his plan is to fire tens of thousands of civil servants, district justices, etc and place his own loyalists into office, then there is a very real chance he can legally intimidate the Democrats into passing constitutional amendments.

[–] Clbull@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (7 children)

Don't constitutional amendments require a supermajority to push through?

Called it, using Allan Lichtman's own 13 keys principle (in ways that he himself overlooked), and on a heavily downvoted comment.

Where I was wrong was with how narrow the result would he. It wasn't even Gore v Bush levels of close unlike when Lichtman's 13 keys prediction previously failed. Kamala lost the popular vote to a convicted felon that tried to usurp democracy and is the reason why abortion is no longer a federal right. The Republicans spent the last few weeks crapping on Haitians and Puerto Ricans, yet won some districts with large Latino populations.

This is what happens when Democrats ignore their voter base and choose a cabal of unpopular and uncharismatic candidates to carry the torch. The bar is now so low that we need James Cameron to venture out into the Mariana Trench and lift it back up again...

Bernie Sanders

Pete Buttigieg

Or if they could have approached a very popular celebrity such as Dwayne Johnson or Taylor Swift and asked them to run.

Even Andrew Yang could have produced a better result if he made a better campaign pitch than focusing his solely on leftist pipe dreams that will bankrupt the country such as UBI.

I'd argue the opposite.

The fact that Americans are possibly still voting for someone who will bring in the Fourth Reich if elected, over the first female president is a sign of just how badly Democrats have dropped the ball. ESPECIALLY after Jan 6th.

Don't get me wrong. I hope that I'm wrong and Harris mops the floor with Trump, but the polls on 538 aren't giving me much hope

An Xbox player was given a year-long ban for recording nude scenes in Baldur's Gate 3.

Any clips you record on your Xbox are uploaded to Microsoft's servers by default and may be automatically flagged as explicit content, as /u/Daddy-Vegas on Reddit found out when he automatically received a combined 390 day (4+21+365) suspension from Xbox Live for three clips he recorded.

His first appeal was apparently rejected, but subsequent appeals led to his ban being lifted after the gaming press picked up the story.

Karl Jobst and SomeOrdinaryGamers (separate video linked here) have accused Jirard Khalil of lying to viewers about his charity.

Jirard is a YouTuber who runs a channel known as the Completionist, where he plays games to 100% completion and reviews them based on how enjoyable the experience was.

The Open Hand Foundation, which was co-founded by Jirard in 2014, was set up to raise money for dementia charities after his dementia-stricken mother passed away. However, their yearly filings with the IRS suggest that none of this money has been donated to charity.

Jacque (Jirard's brother) responded to Karl's emails to the Open Hand Foundation claiming that they are still searching for the correct charity to partner with and disburse these funds, whereas Jirard claimed that he was only aware that none of the funds had gone out last year, yet is still openly promoting Open Hand on stream and claiming they support the UCSF, Alzheimer's Association, the AFTD and many other charities.

Adding some context for this video.

Syberbolt is a former Paladins turned gaming variety YouTuber who has done three videos on Phantasy Star 2: New Genesis. This is the third one. (first and second vids linked here for context, but they're very long: about 3 hours overall.)

A TL;DW of the video, to both recap the situation and sum up this video (which is 80 mins long):

  • Syberbolt's previous videos exposed the dismal state of PSO2:NG's launch and corruption within the game's community moderators.

  • He faced a lot of backlash in the form of harassment and slander due to his last two videos, and suspects that the PSO2 community manager (GWIZ) or other moderators on the official PSO2 Discord server are going so far as to make burner accounts on Discord and Reddit to publicly shit on him.

  • The official PSO2 Discord censors Syberbolt's videos, and bans anyone from the server who even mentions him.

  • SEGA falsely and unfairly bans his PSO2 account for 'hacking' in retaliation towards the past videos he made criticizing their game and how they were poorly running the community. Why hacking? Because the reason instantly discredits any claims Syberbolt can make of being innocent and allows Sega customer support to fob him off and provide zero evidence of the real reason for the ban. The ban even made it to the frontpage of the /r/SEGA and /r/Asmongold subreddits.

  • As a result of the ban, he makes a new account, levels it to max and goes through all the new content so he could create a third video on the subject. The updates are a mix of mediocre new content and really bad system changes to make the game more pay-to-win and grindy.

  • During the video, he experiences loads of glitches with the new content including an endless loading screen loop that went unfixed for months, plus another one which forced him to (unsuccessfully) repair, (unsuccessfully) reinstall the game, uninstall/reinstall Windows entirely and even replace his hard drive just to get the game to stop spawning him on an empty map.

  • June 2023's update disappoints a huge portion of the community who expected Sega to fix the game's problems, despite them clearly stating that the main focus would be player housing.
