I've seen oppressive modding here as well, and maybe it's because lemmy is smaller so it's easier to see, or maybe it's just confirmation bias, but I've seen more bad faith modding here than on reddit, which to be fair I don't go to anymore.

Yeah true, unless the quality suffers on account

Title. Alt account cause obviously.

Been on lemmy for like 2 years, at first it was okay, possibly because I started on lemm.ee (RIP), possibly the influx of new users from reddit has changed things, who knows.

But now I keep seeing all the same things happen here that happened on reddit. People abusing rules that go unenforced, mods removing posts/banning users only when they take offense, users (and even mods) fighting each other over instances like rival gangs, communities propped up by single users, all of it.

The only actual differences I've found are that there's no ads, and some instances have a more gated sign-up process to deter bots/spammers. That's it.

There are some good faith users of course, but it seems the vast majority just want to be in a safe space echo chamber and talk shit about each other. It's like that meme from the office: corporate needs you to differentiate these images, and one is reddit and the other is reddit wearing a lemmy mask, they're the same image.

1.) I only downvoted comments in this thread because this isn't even relevant to mental health

2.) nobody cares about you that much

3.) seems like you're the one that's mad, seeing as you went to check every name that downvoted you

Be mad I guess ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: damn kid you must be big mad.

Edit 2: I just reread your dm, and at what point did I tell anybody to kill themselves? Are you okay? Do you need a doctor?

Lol imagine believing this and still thinking you're not mentally ill.

As someone who grew up in a (not so surprising) racist family: I promise you, they don't care. If she had an (R) next to her name, they'd be voting for her instead of Trump, as long as the opponent had a (D) next to their name.

The modern republican party is what's left of "the south that will rise again". Doesn't matter that Donnie dipshit wasn't born in the south, that's the demographic he's been taught, all his life, that matters.

And in Donnie the dipshit's case, it's basically still 1800s America. Guy hasn't moved a millimeter since 1990. Guy probably doesn't know what the word 'no' even means.

If you vote for Donnie Dumbass, I hope once the liberals are gone ,he comes for you next.

I totally got into it, even pulled up the music vid ,but your comment reminded me how insulting it would be if Radiohead was utilized by Donald "Hitler had good ideas, you won't have to vote anymore," Trump.

Like holy shit, nothing makes me happier than knowing Trump is so unloved.

in gaming journalism

Wow, you don't read much news I'm guessing. Any and all news publications love to use it as a 'catch-all' term for, "he showed them what for!"

It's a bogus word describing action that the news can't otherwise report, because calling it 'verbal slaughter' triggers people.

If modern journalism had any integrity left, they'd call Trump what he is: a wannabe Hitlerian dictator.

Any publication that tries to curb that, is likely in bed with the money piles the network was given by the accused.

There's not a single goddamn person on the planet that doesn't have some sort of bias, that's journalism 101.

That's crazy. Not even counting time spent on pirated versions of games, any game that I truly enjoy has at least 300hrs logged. I think my most played game is sitting at a little over 1100hrs because fuuuck am I a sucker for a game dev that respects and engages their players, but that's a different story to tell.

Only twenty?!?? Man I play NMS like I play Sims or Minecraft. I put 100hrs in, get bored and don't play for a while, when I come back there's been at least one or two updates and I'm easily able to put back in another hundred with new/revised content.

Not that it's a competition, I'm just surprised cause of how much time I put into things. (x_x)
