Nah outer banks is a killer spot - wife wanted to go and take maternity pictures at the beach, so we went to the OB for the first time.

Very chill place - not a lot of nightlife as the population is so low, but you also won't get stuck with a dirty needle on the beach or stabbed on the strip so. There's that.

Living in NC, when I was a kid, we went to Myrtle beach once a year.

Now as a father myself, hell would freeze over before I take my runt to Myrtle.

Go to the outer banks.

Quickly read through the writeup, excellent work. I've been meaning to do something similar to this but haven't been able to properly commit the time to do the research required to make it all play nice.

I'll be doing this sometime soon 👍

It's the type of crowd that self hosting brings. We're very much more Lemmings than Redditors by trade, so it does make sense the community here is better.

That, and fuck reddit.

If anybody uses this in prod from a git repo, might want to place your database creds in an .env file adjacent to your compose file then gitignore the .env.

Referenced like so:

.env contents

MYSQL_ROOT_PASSWORD=MyExamplePassword

MYSQL_ROOT_USER=MyExampleUser

docker-compose.yml contents:

MYSQL_ROOT_PASSWORD: ${MYSQL_ROOT_PASSWORD}

MYSQL_ROOT_USER: ${MYSQL_ROOT_USER}

Don't commit secrets to git!

Damn mobile formatting.

I strive to be as good a parent as Bandit and Chili are.

The episode that Bingo is having that wild space dream was legitimately visually impressive.

Episode where it's inferred (at least, I don't remember them directly stating it) that Chili's sister can't have children and it bothers her is the one that got me watery-eyed.

On the other hand, the hand puppet unicorn had me pissing myself laughing. "What's your favorite thing to eat?!" "Children..." "Oh.." "Just kidding!"

The staff on Bluey really care about the program, and it shows.

So coming up, my family ate a ton of Mexican /TexMex. I being underage at the time, always got soft drinks, sweet tea (one of the good things to come from the south..), or water. Dad always got a beer, specifically Dos Equis amber.

My very first restaurant I went to as a newly 21 year old was a local TexMex spot with my now wife - ordered the burrito I'd ordered 100 other times but ordered a Dos Equis with it.

It changed my perception of the food entirely, and now it's upsetting to me if I don't get specifically a Dos Equis with my Mexican food - it just isn't the same. Now wife has the same feelings and we argue over who is DD when we go out for Mexican.

Modelo is really bad with anything though, sorry gang.

Adding this to the list for sure - thanks!

SYMbolism what is the SYMbolism?!

Hello all,

My 19 month old has had 3 separate events that sort of resemble night terrors, and I'm looking for some insight.

The wife and I decided sleep training was the way around a year old, and generally he sleeps through the night fully now - but three times in the last few weeks, this event set will happen:

He will wake up standing in his crib screaming as if he's being hurt, when we go to check on him he's inconsolable so after checking him for bodily harm, I bring him to bed with us with a bottle screaming the whole way. After a few minutes of thrashing about, he sits up and looks around, seemingly confused about his surroundings and he's fine; he gets his bottle and back off to sleep within a minute or two.

The confusing part for me is he is very aware my wife and I are in the room during these fits, when during a night terror they're supposedly in almost a trance-like state. The "waking up" motions he does is also baffling to me.

Thoughts?

Hello everyone!

I've had a homelab up for quite a while and would like to expand on that. I'm a major media person and I'm really wanting to put up a website that I can post movie reviews on.

It'll be public, but really it's only for my family/friends connected to my plex server. I'm constantly getting asked for recommendations and would like a centralized place they can look, and I can look back on upon a rewatch.

I'd really like to stay away from WordPress if at all possible - every time I've ever used WP, it always seems extremely slow after plug-ins are added and that's really the only "template" I've seen.

Also, can you pull watch history from plex and display on a site? I've looked quite a bit for the movie Review page but haven't really looked at the plex api. Really looking to pull watch history based on library/genre.

Currently set up with nginx proxy manager.

Thanks folks
