In the U.S. (not sure if this is elsewhere) you have the work number too. Employers that participate share every pay period and bonis to your record. Then future employers can look up and see exactly how much you were making when they run the background check.

Depends on age. Being younger, I would probably work and try to live off my 24K for a couple years, putting away the salary from my job. If the lifestyle fit, then I would quit and take this path with a little safety net setup.
I've had a lot of response back through LinkedIn. Landed one of my jobs through it. Other three were personal and professional connections.
Asked for offer letters from employees asking for a counter. Then management would call that company and try to get them to recind their job offer, even threatened legal action. This happened to multiple people, fortunately none that I knew of lost the new opportunity.

They literally hired a person to gatekeep the printers? That is such a waste time time. One of the many reasons why corporate sucks.
