Don't. This guide is needlessly complicated and will just confuse people.

It has the linux install menu

The what now?
Get a USB stick, make it bootable, get your chosen distro on it and then boot from that on your Chromebook. Everything else should be self explanatory, assuming you're not going to some advanced distro.
Ventoy is a very easy way to do this, as you just drop the .iso files into its folder (and you can have multiple ones on the stick too), but not every single distro is supported (most of the commonly used ones are though).

So for example, the Private Internet Access VPN app has a play store version without the ad and tracker blocking functionality, because that goes against the Play Store TOS. But you can get the full version with the ad blockers as an APK from the official website.

What?
I have the play store version of Mullvad and it has ad & tracking blocker functionality.

misinformation

noun

  • Wrong information; false account or intelligence.
  • Untrue or incorrect information.
  • Information that is incorrect.

Would be a pretty bad misinformation campaign if they were telling the truth.

"Nightmare scenario"...
All I see is the hilarious reality of the so called "AI" revolution.

It's not just France, it's EU based politics too. There's certain liberal & center right parties & politicians that heavily push for shit like this, just like the chat control crap.

Are non smart TVs even still a thing nowadays? I don't own or watch any TV so I honestly don't know how the market currently looks like.

Not in a comfortable way unfortunately.
You can launch an app through the Mullvad app which then will be launched bypassing the VPN until it is closed. You cannot permanently blacklist / whitelist specific apps to always / never be routed through the VPN.

Edit: Didn't see the community. On Android it seems to feature a whitelist for apps to not be routed through the app, which seems to be permanent. Not sure why the desktop version does not have that.

Yeah, been there done that. Evidently none of those things actually help. It's a drop in the ocean. Again, the majority of people does not care, or rather the contrary, gets angry at those who do.

And how are you supposed to do that? You can vote, but that is just one person. Look at the election results & polls of green parties & politicians who want to do something. No one actually wants that, otherwise they'd be voting differently. Everyone loves to cry about the big corporations or the bad politicians but none of them want to do anything themselves or be in any way shape or form affected by required measures that are needed to reduce emissions. Because yes, at this stage it will cost us, all of us, and it will just get more and more expensive to fix with each passing year - until there's nothing possible to fix anymore.
