Ah I had a different idea of the meaning. To me it means visibly pulling for one team or another, which national broadcasts try to avoid.
I agree that the best local broadcasters provide accurate analysis while emotionally rooting for the home team.

Not sure if this is directed @ OKC or PHI broadcast but I actually like Homer announcers for local broadcasts, as long as they’re factually accurate I think it’s good for announcers to be rooting for the team in the city they’re broadcasting to
Marc Gasol and (as much as I hate to admit it) Al Horford are basically the only two people to ever do it successfully
Joel makes Chet look like an actual child on D lmao, he is impressive on offense though
It’s almost like they have an physically dominant center as their best player and top scorer so they get fouled a lot
