To them the facts never mattered. Just their feelings. So it's plenty in script for them.

Oh absolutely. I've already run it for years with a mixed hodgepodge of zigbee Z-Wave and Wi-Fi devices. The problem is that many still phone home to somewhere. I definitely want to get everything down to matter and threads on my local ha as much as possible.

Was looking at good options the other day for a thread border router. My father was an ESP based option. Though not the ubiquitous cheat esp32s

Not sure if you're familiar with the youtuber. But I saw he recently put out a commentary on the movie comparing it to the last Disney one released. He is certainly not a targeted demographic for the movie. But found himself really liking it. I'm certainly not the targeted demographic either at roughly 50 years old. But I might give it a watch as well.

Push back would have unfortunately been performative. For decades national Democrats and their supporters have been hyperfocused on the presidency. Ceding many lower offices to Republican fascists without a fight. Democrats haven't held a solid legislative/judicial majority in nearly 50 years. Republicans have. Which has allowed them to neuter and negate everything Democrats have tried. Which wasn't much.

While I would have liked to have seen Obama speak out more. The fact that he would have only been speaking out with nothing being done wouldn't have been that positive for them and cost them a lot of political Capital they could use for other things. And indeed, in 2028 if Democrats somehow managed to win the presidency again. Without having a solid control of the legislature etc. It will be the same as them not winning. They really need to start focusing on the state level heavily. And winning back areas they've long since given up on. Only then will they be able to do more than just bitch and whine.

Doesn't want? Or doesn't need? Auto coup incoming in 3 years?

Google has always harvested data. Which I'm generally not a fan of and try to keep as much of it as private as I can. But this whole Gemini thing is egregious. The one and only thing I ever use Google Assistant for his voice commands for home automation. I really need to set up the built-in one for home assistant etc. And Gemini has been absolutely fail-tastic when it comes to taking over those duties. I've had to disable it on a number of family devices which suddenly stopped being able to work with a few of the smart home devices around the house.

Going forward I'm heavily investing in matter/threads. The day I can have everything handled locally and not need to rely on proprietary constantly enshitifying bullshit. That will be a great day indeed.

Money will definitely present an obstacle. But the fact mamdami is the parties candidate carries plenty weight itself. Outside the primaries people are largely clueless. Name recognition will count for something. Though I don't think Cuomo's is that good. IIRC he's dirtied of plenty. So hopefully party recognition will outweigh.

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 3 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Fair enough. Though in 50 years of watching this I don't think I've ever seen it used that way? Definitionally. In a Democratic primary for the Democratic party. Everyone is blue no matter who. Now the establishment definitely loathes being challenged. Which is all more reason to do it.

Blue no matter who generally only means anything in the general. All the better now that actual people can use it against the party establishment for once. And I would argue that any member of the establishment or New York Democratic party leadership who would vote for anyone other than the parties candidate, mondami. Should be ousted from leadership. Any leadership that doesn't have the courage of conviction for the Party's candidate. Certainly doesn't represent that party.

They aren't one of the names I generally associate with that group. So you are probably right.

Is it almost exclusively applied to establishments Dems because that's who runs the most often? Or is there some real different dichotomy? Don't get me wrong Cuomo can go fuck himself with a sideways baseball bat. Wanting to have it both ways he's going to fight for the worst possible outcome.

Plenty of genuine people got a lot of venom and vitrial in 2024 calling for solidarity against the fascists. And still do. From many of the people posting lower down below this article. Though not OP. I don't recall them being part of that group. But blue no matter who cuts both ways. And this time Como ain't the blue candidate and should really sit the fuck out and take the clue. This time people will actually be able to vote blue no matter who and hopefully feel good about it for once. Since it isn't Como or Adams.

Oh. Well there are a number posting here that aren't doing it as a bit. But as long as Quomo gets fucked I don't care.

Absolutely blue no matter who was about solidarity against the fascists. Mamdami is the blue this time. Cuomo just another self serving vote splitting fascist enabler. So yes, blue (Democrats) no matter who (especially because mamdami seems like a great candidate this time).

I know 3rd parties actually have a presence in NY. AOC having come from them. Are there any polling close to either of the two major parties in the mayors race? And if not, why shouldn't people vote blue this time. Especially seeing as it's mamdami? Who should you have them vote for.
