Especially in this context where 1969 is the moon landing and Woodstock year

Next step will be trying to erase trans people from being able to go outside or have a job

Kansas, like most all of the USA is very car dependent so losing a drivers license could result in not being able to commute to a job

Nothing on AO3 can beat this writing

I'm proud of the one NOT doing the immoral thing.

So are you an anarchist? That's the only way this logic would make sense to me.

I mean... isn't that how it works in cities? Like proper cities, not American suburbs? I'm in a pretty big city right now and I don't think I ever went above 30 mph until I entered the motorway

The only ones? You don't truly and fully support speed limits, lane driving, obeying traffic signals, using indicators?

[–] Emerald@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Agree with this as well. Always weird when the speed limit decreases and the road stays the same.

School speed limits are unnecessarily complicated. So many times I'll pass a school speed limit sign and sometimes it's just "while flashing" which is easy to understand quickly. However, other times it has in very small print conditions such as during certain times or during weekdays or even the really vague "when children present". Sometimes I won't notice all of the print before I pass the sign, so I'll just do the slower school speed limit and the driver behind me starts tailgaiting me because I'm going under the limit. So I suggest instead of having these limits be conditional school speed limits, they should just be the normal limits all the time. It wouldn't hurt people to slow down when kids aren't present, so just make the speed limit reduced all the time on roads around the school. Additionally, if this was the case, drivers would be used to going slow and wouldn't forget to slow down during school hours

It's just the truth, water washes away lubrication. I would be interested to know how thats different for uncircumcised individuals though.

No, why would it be? Water is the anti-lubricant

Whenever I'm driving, I appreciate a good traffic delay, as long as it doesn't make me late. I tend to leave at a time where I'll be 20 minutes early if I need to be somewhere, so a modest delay for traffic just adds some extra excitement to my day. I love examining the traffic shockwaves caused by road work and such as well. I look forward to my morning traffic now that a road I drive on is a work zone.

Additionally, traffic is just super cool and human. Its the perfect balance between predictable and unpredictable. Also when I'm in really dense traffic I enjoy hanging out with all the other cars too, like I have some (very temporary) friends. and when I exit the highway, I always tell the traffic still on it "goodbye, have a nice day!" even though they can't hear me

lastly, when I get somewhere on time despite the traffic, it feels so good. It energizes me and makes me feel like I've gone on a grand adventure. Sometimes I'll even take detours through the gravel county roads and such and that makes for quite a wild adventure as these often get backed up as well when others have the same idea as me.

edit: by within reason I mean like a 10-30 minute delay. Additionally, I'm not a huge fan of congestion on roads with traffic signals, but on the motorway where we're all going 5-20 mph consistently its fun

It has no additional flavor other than adding sweetness. I would rather have no syrup than "fake" pancake syrup (e.g. Ms Butterworths).

I much prefer maple syrup. Of course it is expensive, so the Log Cabin table syrup is a good substitute that still has actual flavor and is affordable.

Edit: Also if you still want maple flavor for cheaper, a mix of half maple and half cane works good, like the stuff at Cracker Barrel. It doesn't deserve the hate.

For me it's calculating. Too many people put math into their search engines and not their calculator.

I read the section two definition of "chemical and surgical mutilation" and it mentions altering sex organs to remove their biological functions. One of the biological functions of a penis is to produce sperm. So could this mean no more federal coverage for vasectomies as well as stuff like tubal litigation or hysterectomies? And yes, I know that people under 19 don't usually get permanent sterilization procedures anyways, but I still wonder about this interpretation.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/protecting-children-from-chemical-and-surgical-mutilation/

The phrase “chemical and surgical mutilation” means the use of puberty blockers, including GnRH agonists and other interventions, to delay the onset or progression of normally timed puberty in an individual who does not identify as his or her sex; the use of sex hormones, such as androgen blockers, estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone, to align an individual’s physical appearance with an identity that differs from his or her sex; and surgical procedures that attempt to transform an individual’s physical appearance to align with an identity that differs from his or her sex or that attempt to alter or remove an individual’s sexual organs to minimize or destroy their natural biological functions. This phrase sometimes is referred to as “gender affirming care.”

Mine is mapping. I am a big OpenStreetMap contributor and I have mapped many towns near me that were previously completely unmapped.
