I'm new to this 'language of the enemy' lesson. There are so many categories of types of software though. How are we to distinguish best terms for this cause? love the resilient optimism this comment brings

Surely some dietary habits could best help prevent somewhat, right?

As someone who's already quite guilty, what can I do to best prevent this...whatever you call it..condition?

I keep running into this same deadend in my attempts to maintain decent digital hygiene. I'm always in the need to do more research before trying, but there's no way to pretend I've gone through every code line and audit either. Ultimately I'm always left with whatever solutions are most suggested--recurring suggestions becomes my true filter/litmus test but I know this itself is soon to become it's own non-solution.

The situation does seem quite desperate. I'd like to heed your call. Please advise on most critical systems I should have ready right now today please. I know have a lot of work to do and must stay efficient

Ok, I guess it doesn't carry across cult spectrums, but isn't that almost the rule for cults?

Wow, that point about the public instances was quite unknown to me at the time and explains a lot of my initial frustrations for sure. I've been looking into getting started self-hosting but am unsure what kinds of important but also safe tools I should start with as a newbie. I need a guide or ranking resource of some sort. Maybe I just lurk c/self-host bunches for now tho

I have great admiration for those that maintain public instances, but it sounds like I need to again try to get the self-hosting ball rolling if I aim to truly further the privacy-preserving cause
