By 2028, what players do you think will be MVP? I see Luka winning one or 2, he’ll win one pretty easily but the 2nd one depends on the team record and if he has the #1 record and great stats he’ll win a couple. I think SGA or Trae might win one depending on their record and tbh I think Trae has what it takes to lead the league in points and assists the same year and if he does he deserves an mvp. SGA or Tatum could get one simply because of their team record. A super dark house player I see winning an mvp is Zion but that solely depends on his health but if he can stay healthy for 65 games and he a point forward he can win one. What do you guys think?

All prison team 1st team starting 5

Doncić is the next Anthony Davis in the sense that he'll spend first 10 years of his career as yearly being the first favorite to win MVP and never get really that close lol.

I get your point to an extent that the "Luka GOAT trajectory" stuff is starting to run a bit thin but I think it's more of a KD situation than an AD situation

KD like Luka was All NBA 1st team basically from the very start of his career and never really became consensus best player in the world like many thought he would but still won an MVP and was runner up several other times while being a top 2/3 player yearly during his prime

I can see the same thing happening with Luka where it's not necessarily "Luka's league" like people thought it would be but he's still consistently a tier 1 player and eventually wins MVP

It’s also a situation where if Luka retired tomorrow, some people are arguing he’s already a Hall of Famer based solely on his European league career.

His NBA legacy isn’t solidified yet but he’s in the conversation for an MVP and I think he has enough raw ability to be the top guy on a championship team.

But if he retired tomorrow, he has an arguable hall of fame career at age twenty-five. How rare is that? He probably wouldn’t be considered an all-time great but his overall career including Europe is above-average even without individual NBA accolades. He’s already been named Euroleague MVP and that’s pretty much unanimously the second-best league in the world.

He won’t be a Jordan or LeBron level GOAT contender but if he can get over the hump, he could very well have an outstanding basketball legacy.

I'm just talking about the facts about MVP, zero opinion. Someone gets voted MVP or not, we know for what, and that's it.

Durant had results, that's it, also a fact. For his two first seasons he did not, he was super talented and hyped but overall his play did not make the team overall better, but after that he was. And what a surprise, because of that in 2009-10 season he went from zero MVP votes to 2nd in the voting, because the voters just look at it, it's not a comment on anything, it's just what happens, I didn't want to connect it to anything else.

RemindMe! 3 years

[–] beached-blue-walrus@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Jokic will be a favorite for the next 5 years.

Luka will probably start snagging MVPs if gets the right teammates.

Tatum might get one in a down year as the best healthy player on a top team.

Giannis could but I doubt it, he’s not developing a jumper and he’s getting older.

Wemby might figure it out within a few years and dominate the league, if so - leagues fucked.

[–] EnvironmentalAsk4246@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Luka, Embiid, Jokic, Giannis, will win one or two, maybe Booker on an outside chance.

[–] CasualHindu@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

LaMelo LaFrance Ball

I’ll probably get down voted but – who cares? It’s a dumb award. Nobody can really tell you what the criteria are. It’s not best player. Is it best player on the best team? Or an OK team that got a lot of wins? And obviously the NBA likes to spread it around or else Shaq would’ve won three times in a row and LeBron would’ve won six or seven times in a row.

[–] DidiGreglorius@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If I had to bet I’d say Luka, Jokic, Tatum, Giannis and Shai. Not in that order.

Zion I’d call a bit of a dark horse now but if he can be consistently healthy for a couple of years and the Pels develop then I could see it.

[–] Far-Yak-9808@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

No more than five.

[–] Street-Common-4023@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Trae? Are you fucking serious rn.

[–] SaltyTraeYoungStan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Bro I’m the biggest Trae fan there is and even I put the odds extremely low. There is potential, but even if he gets 55+ wins, improves dramatically on defence(which he is starting to do and I think he will continue to improve), has a 50/40/90 season which would be by far his highest efficiency, and going 30/10/2steals, he still has such a narrative against him that he likely wouldn’t win.

I do believe all of this is a possibility(though unlikely), but even then I think the narrative prevails.

[–] CallMePapi930@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If Trae got 55+ wins while putting up 30 and 10 on 50/40/90 he would win MVP lol. Nobody is gonna go that hard with the narratives if the results so clearly say otherwise. Everybody who has won MVPs has against them. The problem with Trae is the hawks stay at .500 and that’s not enough to get peoples attention.

Also since 21-22 he hasn’t been anywhere close to 50/40/90 so him doing that would be huge considering the narrative that he’s Westbrook 2.0 with efficiency.

If Trae is that guy from the 21-22 season he has as good of a shot as anybody. Hawks just gotta win

[–] KnicksNBAchamps2021@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

that’s only in a situation where all the top 10 players play under 65 games

[–] __init__m8@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You mean only a situation where all the top 15 are dead.

[–] xdxmann@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

tatum, luka, ant, sga, jokic are a couple i think have a chance. maybe wemby if he continues to progress?

[–] Middle-Welder3931@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Jokic, Giannis, Luka, SGA, Tatum, Ant, Hali, Wemby.

[–] cirierobbed@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If wolves stay at this level ant is a lock. other than him luka, SGA, tatum, hali

[–] 480AHole@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Fat turd Luka will never win an MVP. He's a cancer.

[–] 100DayChallenges@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Jokic gets 2
