Exactly. Unions exist in Liberal and Social Democracies, too. They want to keep us on this Neoliberal path, because it's so very exploitable. Unions are just a drop of democracy, but for your workplace, or sometimes renting and transit systems.
Yeah, I'm already paying more for American made products, in search of better oversight and safety. If it offered workers better pay, that would be a huge win for "voting with my wallet".
I'm out of the loop. I was under the impression all American car manufacturing started in Mexico and ended in the American Midwest / South. So it would just be moving production down that line. Did VW do manufacturing entirely in Mexico? Does VW have reliability issues? I stopped my interest after the Diesel scandal.

In the last few years he's had a deeply progressive audience. And they used to groan at him. And he's just become more ignorant, and I hope it does ruin his reputation and that of his show. I soent so many nights thinking he would have great jokes about the state of things, just to be lectured about why transgenderism and wokism is an empty fad.

I never noticed how insidious this was. I thought it was really funny at first. Like oh, I groaned and he's reminding me to have fun. But he has taken it to mean his audience needs to be exposed to grifters and harmful talking points disguised as "challenging ideas"
