Gimp and PS made no sense to me. Ive learnt $d modling over time and don't it fairly easy.

Started with Tinkercad. Its fine for the basics. Square plus circle minis triangle etc. It dosnt have a timeline or parametric though, so small changes are pretty hard.

Mixed to fusion360. Free if you can navigate the site. Heaps of tutorials non lone and really solid to. Basically draw in 2d and extend. Draw in 2d and cut. Heaps non other use full ways to modify things too. Its parametric so you can say one side is X long. And change X and the model will scale.
Focus on the 2d shapes, fully constraining them and making them simple.

Moved to Onshape. Its not got the 10active models that fusion has. And runs (surprisingly well) in browser. i can jump on any PC (work cough) and make edits. The tools (for most people) are on par with fusion and I found it more initiative.

Watch heaps of builds on fusion and you'll get the just pretty quickly.

This is a pretty good start to make Mint (Cinnamon) look better.

Its basically mall built-in tools.

I ended up just putting icons in the middle (to prepare for works Win11 enshitification).

I also put a user button near the time to allow shutdown and removed the god awful power icons from the start menu (or whatever the app launcher is called).

Theres also an extend thin for a bigger start menu more like a grid but thats personal preference.

I think mint should do some of these things so its not so off putting. It held me back forming for so long but IRS much better.

I prefer mint over fedora. Fedora dosnt seem to have as many apps in the store. Yes you can use a terminal but thats not helping linux become mainstream, mint is.

+1 mint also prompts new users to setup timeshift backups.

Fist party keyboards have the exact same permissions. The code is hidden though and noone can audit it.

Will check it out.

The visit was good, even if it was mostly jump scares.

I agree wity you on Hireditary and your recommendations. Got any other recommendations?

Not sure of you'll like it but Witch (stylised as VVitch) is pretty good. Not sure if its technically horror though.

This dosnt seem to fully work. Deadpool & Wolverine was at cinama and only available as a cam recording (on the high seas) until late last month. Lee on the other hand is showing at cinema but on the seas toucan watch it as 4k.

I'm rarely at a PC when I want to add a movie. I dont normally DL content either. Just stream via Stremio and Premiumize.

Is there ao mobile option thst doesn't require VPN and Remote PC?

I'm trying to find a simple way to keep track of movie releases that I'm interested in. Is there an app or website where I can just type in the movie name and get notified when it's available?

I've seen some posts mentioning setting up RSS feeds, but that seems a bit complicated for what I need. Ideally, I want something where I can just hit "get notified" and then receive an email or notification when the movie is released.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

(Not just when they are released in cinema but as 1080 or 4k)

There is an site to turn YT feeds into RSS (?) And then play the audio through Antenna Pod. So YouTube to podcast.

I've got it working for some things I follow where I dont need the visuals.

Question is title.

In the past I've installed many distros on many older PCs, but never used linux properly (although slowly moving over to avoid win11). I've also had a heap of history with windows installs.

A family member has been testing Mint on an old laptop and is going well. This is a trial run before I update their iMac laptop (not sure what one but no longer supposed by OS updates).

I've never booted to an iMac BIOS or installed over top of apple.

  • Is this going to be like installing over windows?
  • What issues can I expect?
  • Should I consider another distro?

Asking here as searching results in AI bullshit websites.

Is related to the F1 guy? Or the AIR bnb dog?

I've got a few accounts on my phone, and the calanders are set up to sync.

When I look in the outlook app I can see the outlook events as expected.

When I use the Samsung Calender app (preferred), the Google Calander app, or any other Calander apps the outlook Calander has issues.

Some events appear, others don't, some seem to disappear etc. I think it's to do with android and the syncing of the Calander, but I'm not sure what.

I've used the reset account button in the outlook app, and deleted and re-added the account.

Written with dyslexia.

Is it possible to set the local button to show another instance?

Ideally when signed in but I'd also be happy to swap to a guest/anonymous account.

It saves having to make many instance logins. And I think it's voyager that allows this.

Good work and cheers
