Sure Zuck is an idiot for wearing this in PR shots. But at the same time, I don't believe he truly has a hatred for modern Tunisia specifically.

I'm so annoyed at the timing of this, I'm in a place far enough north to get decent views of it in winter (but it is always cloudy). Right now we don't get full night so at 1am, the peak of darkness, it wasn't super visible.
It's interesting how many of the psychopath suits seem to watch cautionary tales turning into hellscapes and think "yeah, that's a great idea, let's make that".
It's true it does cost to keep things running. But like you say there are ways around this to push server costs onto players, or simply allow offline play with online features disabled.
I think if there were legislation in place then design decisions would adapt. If it were costly to just shut a game down abruptly, there would be player hosted options in place from the start and ideally less spurious "always online" requirements woven into the fabric of every game.
