Let me guess, you have to pay a monthly subscription fee for this and if you want the free tier, it would just require you to play all games with an internet connection to ensure you aren't doing something you shouldn't and collecting your juicy data in the meantime. This fucking timeline is almost like the fallout timeline

Every time I can, I take a 30 minute power nap during my lunch break. Only once during a meeting (remote with my camera off) but thankfully no one seemed to notice.

It depends on your meaning of trust, trust in the answers, trust in your privacy, what kind of trust are we talking about? If we are talking about trust in the accuracy or usability of the data it responds with, I would say I trust copilot, grok, Claude, Lumo, and finally Gemini -- in that order. However, if we are talking about trusting them with your data to stay private, that is a big 'ol zero because none of them are private (Lumo might be the most private but I still don't trust it 100%).

My job asks us to use AI agents so I have been playing around with paid licenses on all of these (Lumo was tested on my personal computer)

Could be, like I said, not making it political. My current setup is running a 12th gen i9 and runs fine. I'm just repeating what I've seen other across Lemmy, Reddit, etc. have said in other places

One thing that may or may not have something to do with people leaving Intel might be related to their relationship with Israel. Not trying to make this political, but it's something I've seen some folks mention before.

Ah, sorry. I was out of the loop

I would love to see a sequel to Chappie, I don't think no one talks about it enough, the plt has a couple of holes, but the movie as a whole was perfect in my opinion.

There was originally plans for a sequel but I think there where some issues with ~~casting~~ it under performing in the box office. Also, it would need to be with someone else leading as Bruce Willis is too sick to act any more.

Keanu said he'd jump at the opportunity to make a sequel as well and he's been pushing for it for a while

That's a pretty cool mechanic tbh

I recently got a nice office chair for Christmas with heated massage functionality and it uses a barrel plug to power it but I have to be super careful to not pull it or damage the barrel connector in any way. I wish there was a magnet conector for these things in case of a yank pull and was wondering if anyone had heard of some adapter like the one I pictured above.

As someone who didn't grow up in the US, I don't have a large family here, nor do we have any thanksgiving traditions outside of turkey or ham for dinner. But I wanted to learn some new traditions, specially some I can do with adults as my kids are in college.

Hi everyone, I have Truenas core running on an old desktop at home. For the past year everything has been going great. However for the past month or so I started to notice that my SMB share for Jellyfin was getting reset to some 6 movies. All of my home videos, music, TV shows, and other movies where gone. I have a backup drive where I store all this data so I copied the files back and Jellyfin saw them immediately again... but by the next day all where gone again. At first I thought someone had deleted them by accident so I checked the user access of my family members and no one except me has access to delete movies and the logs don't show any media deletion that I wasn't aware of (I found 2 duplicated movies). The server isn't exposed in any way to the internet except for a VPN connection that I keep closed tabs regarding access. I checked the permissions of Jellyfin's container in my Truenas server and both UID and GID are set to 568 per the Internet's recommendation when I set it up originally. My server is running on two 4TB HDDs configured in a mirror. I checked the health of both drives and both show healthy and without errors. I still suspect that when the server syncs the data, that somehow the data from the wrong drive is overwriting the data of the one with the media and deleting it, but I don't know enough on how to check.

Please let me know if you need more information and how to get it, as I am a complete noob when it comes to servers but I am trying to learn.

Thanks y'all

UPDATE: Some have suggested that my Syncthings server could have been the issue, however turning off the server has not fixed the issue and once again files got deleted.

UPDATE 2: I looked at the SMB logs and noticed a bunch of "Unlink" events that seem to be running every morning around 7am and go over every one of my media files. I am assuming "Unlink" means delete somehow, but I can't determine what is calling it.

UPDATE 3: It was Jellyfin deleting the media. I just caught it red-handed.

UPDATE 4: Final update. After deleting my installation and SMB share from my Truenas and reinstalling everything, the deletion issue is now apparently gone. As an extra precaution when installing Jellyfin, I made sure to check the "Read Only" for it's access to the SMB share to make sure it cannot delete any media even if it REALLY wants to.

Seriously, what's even the point of voting if a judge can overturn the voice of the greater majority?

Please don't auto downvote before reading.

A little bit ago some asked a question about why the hate of the blockchain, and that got me thinking if there even was a legitimate use case where the blockchain would be beneficial, but I couldn't think of one outside maybe some sort of decentralized bank, but before I knew I was thinking it would instantly turn into some crypto scheme and strapped it, because crypto currencies are a scam on every level -- and no they aren't private or secret as some think either.

So I wanted to ask the community. Instead of using the blockchain for crypto, is there a better use where the blockchain could benefit society?

Hey everyone, I was entertaining the thought of going away from owning a smart phone.

I already have a modded ipod classic that I use as my main music player.

I also know how to use a paper map.

I also have the Microsoft authentication app for work (I could just use my phone on wifi mode for this)

The last issue I have is WhatsApp where I communicate with friends and family around the world.

Is there a way to use WhatsApp on a non-smart phone? Or should I just buy a pixel and install a secure rom?

South Carolina lawmakers appear close to approving a bill that would allow anyone who can legally own a gun to carry the weapon openly.

I don't feel safe any more.

Politicians constantly talk about stopping the illegal immigrants that are coming from Mexico, but putting a wall has never and will never be a solution since the reason why so many displaced keep coming across the border is mostly to escape the crime, corruption, inequality, and violence of they have to live in their home countries. The worst part is that most of these terrible things is that happen in third world countries are rooted in constant subversion by developed countries, primarily the US. I feel like since we caused this (even if in part) we should help stop it now, even if we didn't publicly admit guilt to save face.

So, how do we do it? Do we straight up invade Mexico and go on a full out war against the cartels like we did against Osama Bin Laden?

If not, why not? And, is there anything that can be done?

I would like to keep things civil. Please, let's keep this respectful as I know this is a tough issue and there is anger on both sides of this issue.
