I think immutability actually takes away from the confusion and kind of makes the overall experience much more similar to windows where editing system files is something rarely done even among most power users.

Nobody really seems to be pointing out that you are on an instance that does not require the behavior you are requesting.

I would suggest installing Fedora Kinoite, poke around it for 20-30min and if you find it too confusing then just putting windows back.

My point is that it's not a big decision/commitment. And it's trivial to undo!

Ah ok, so ignoring Calibre for a moment, what's the difference between Calibre-Web and Calibre-Web Automated? The ReadMe does not contain a list of the differences.

Using a PC is going to be safer actually because it's easier to block most of the telemetry. Bonus points for Linux.

This is explaining the difference between Calibre and Calibre-Web.

The person you replied to asked what the connection is between "Calibre-Web" and "Calibre-Web Automated"

Is there some feature you need that is sprcific to mobile devices?

  1. Reposting easily attainable public information is not "doxing"

  2. Criticizing someone's political views is perfectly reasonable

  3. If you were acting in good faith and truly believed what you were saying then you would not have reposted the "doxing" information

Lemmy and Piefed are much more 1:1 reddit replacements. Mbin is it's own thing, which is very high quality, but has less out of the box appeal to someone looking for "fediverse reddit".

What's going on? Why does this offtopic comment have 14 upvotes and no upvotes?

EDIT: Dead internet theory here in full force. This post is about Lemmy. The only thing that has to do with Substack is the example post that OP highlighted to demonstrate issues with Lemmy federation. And yet the top comment (and replies to my comment) is going on as if this post is about Substack, almost as if it was written by a technology that cannot understand context.

Another great night of episodes! Featuring Tuvix because people have some strong feelings!

  • TOS (8ET): This Side of Paradise
  • TNG (9ET): I, Borg
  • DS9 (10 ET): Shadows and Symbols
  • VOY (11 ET): Tuvix
  • ENT (midnight): The Breach"

Been watching DS9 Season two and have been very impressed with the quality. I remembered it being "pretty good" but in my memory it was "the season with "The Circle" trilogy, "Melora", "Rivals" and "The Maquis", episodes and story lines that never really did it for me. I think that made me forget how many really good one-off episodes were also here, to name a few:

  • "Necessary Evil"
  • "Rules of Acquisition"
  • "The Alternate"
  • "Armageddon Game"
  • "Whispers"
  • "Paradise"
  • "Shadowplay"

All bangers!

Also I love how this season ever so slowly drip-drops dominion references culminating with the season finale "The Jem Hadar"
