Western countries have also poured tons of money and training into terrorist organizations. The US funded al queda. The idea is we can get them to fight our flight for us, but then we've got an armed, trained, fanatical group on the loose.

Having read both, I recommend the three musketeers, but don't expect it to be quite as good as the count of Monte Christo

Absolutely correct. The sheer weight of the batteries needed for long haul trucking would be entirely self defeating. Not to mention the time needed to charge then

It's not exactly like Star Trek to be sure, but it's possible you might enjoy continuum. Definitely deals with moral issues, but it's not space based, or as futuristic
