I think since Reagan breaking the unions and NAFTA, regular Americans have felt their economic power decline. That makes people bitter and angry. They just want to burn things down and throw a tantrum rather than creating any type of country where someone other than them might succeed.

But also, no. I don’t think Democrats need to be this center right party. Go fix the Republican Party rather than displacing democrats.

They won’t. Elon cut a program to detect famine called the Famine Early Warning System Network, which tracks food security in ~30 countries. And, he discontinued transfers of food to locations where there is famine and near famine. People are going to die and Elon Musk and DOGE are to blame.

If I am the next president, I will rescind all citizenships granted through this program and deport their recipients to a failed state’s prison of my choosing.

Being dependent on starlink is a national security threat for all countries, including the United States

I don’t disagree. I was just clarifying what would spur one.

Truthfully, we are fucked either way. The truth is having a baby boom would help the economy, but accelerate environmental degradation and the consequences of climate change, which will be extremely destabilizing to society and possibly lead to collapse.

But, if we don’t continue to grow the population, the capitalist world, based on a need for endless growth will falter. We will see less productivity and consumption, which will also be destabilizing to society as the economy shrinks or becomes stagnant. This is also destabilizing to society and could also create a collapse.

Idk man, around me it’s sprawling single family homes for miles, when it should be blocks and blocks of condos and town homes. The NIMBYs have prevented construction for decades and now a house costs $1.5m. There is a housing shortage. I think corporations recently taking an interest in buying houses is because the shortage makes their value appreciate so quickly. They’re like parasites taking advantage of the situation, not the root cause.

Build massive amounts of new housing. Give people paid parental leave, and universal healthcare. Guaranteed baby boom.

Not afraid? It’s insane. Even when Gov. Abbott of Texas defied the federal government on border security, Biden didn’t have him arrested.

You can’t make this shit up. Are we going to watch the president extort US companies with tariffs if they don’t buy his meme coin?

Can’t get past paywall, sorry

This morning it was my turn to walk the dog. I took her to a nearby park with two hiking loops, which are about a mile total. Lots of folks bring their dogs here and although there are signs to keep your dog on leash, almost no one follows them. So, I let mine off whenever I go there. She enjoys being under the trees and sniffing. But, there are many squirrels and if she catches one moving, she’ll often take off running after it. Depending on how driven she is by the squirrels I might have to put her on leash so that she calms down and walks next to me. Today, there were a few other folks with their dogs, but none that my dog found appealing. Occasionally, when she meets a dog she likes, she’ll befriend them by doing zoomies in the field and getting the other dog to chase her. We finished our walk and went home.
