It's never Lupus!

Holy hell, nicely done. I vaguely remembered having seen something like this on a tv show but more than a decade ago.

As usual, the best jokes are in the comments. (Though goddamn I chuckled at the meme.)

After reading the article "OH! I guess at her mom's funeral wasn't the right spot."

Ironically, I'd imagine this is his best movie. Certainly the most grown up one. As far as I know, no explosions, almost certainly no cars flying off/through buildings etc. Just a drama for adults aka the kind of movie that hasn't done well at the box office for the last quarter century or so.

I organize a few co-ed soccer teams. My Tuesday team all said whether they would or wouldn't play without me having to nag anyone, which is always nice.

At work, a project I've been leading for what feels like an eternity just crossed the second last hump and most of my efforts towards it are done (for now until something explodes.)

Apparently the fediverse enjoyed a silly meme I made, which is always nice as I like to try to contribute to this place.

This was an unexpectedly fascinating technical read. Admittedly, I'm "watching" baseball so take my definition of fascinating with a grain of salt.

Not a real response, but this is a very nice comment and I think it's the type of thing that makes the fediverse a better place.

I got one a few months ago that is my abslolute favourite, not sure if it counts. Important context, I'm 40 but still play soccer with folks as young as 20. So, one game I'm defending against a young fast kid and beat him to the ball (barely!) a few times in a row on long ball chases. After the third or fourth time he looks over after the race and says "You're really fast for an... uhhh uh uh, you're really fast!"

He meant so well and it was adorable watching him realize mid sentence that I probably didn't want to be called an old man.

Oh interesting, I'll look into that. I've always felt pretty tuckered after beach volleyball so just assumed that was somehow higher impact.

You'd best believe I'm ordering these books ASAP!

I definitely kept getting hurt because of the bro-ey "MORE WEIGHT MOTHERFUCKERS!" attitude, keen to try the opposite.

I play medium tier co-ed soccer, have for the last dozen years or so. I just hit 40, am slowing down and taking longer to recover from injuries. I know my time at a fun sprinting competitivish level is coming to an end but... Sure, I'll miss the new dope friend aspext of it but equally importantly, 3 nights a week for years, I've been so happy to play and for a few hours a week the world, the future, politics, none of it mattered, all that mattered was stopping the bad guys from putting a ball in the wrong place and hopefully making it go to the right place (I'm defence, that half of the field is up to the other 6)

I dunno. Hoped maybe one of you has had to do this before and can share some thoughts. (I just had my foot clipped pretty bad, know I'm out for a few weeks but just came back off another injury etc...)

Edit: Goodness gracious, you folks are all so kind and supportive. Thanks so much, I'm definitely feeling less dejected and much more hopeful about the next stage of living an active and wild life.
