I do not have alot of money and am a student so i can only afford a couple of casios. I own a mtp v006d analogue watch, a f91w and an a168. So am i still a watch collector? I know its a silly question but it came to my mind so i asked it. Thanks!

Yes, only you are concerned about it

[–] MrDagon007@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nothing like a collection of casiotone keyboards

[–] apis@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

Of course you are.

[–] jrg702@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I have a very modest collection, all Seikos, Hamiltons, Benrus. All mechanical or automatics. Until.... My girlfriend got me a G-Shock. Great watch, I wear it more than any other in my small collection. I'd say you are not a true watch collector UNLESS you have a Casio. LOL

[–] No_Personality6685@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Casio is consistently ranked S tier in terms of watch brands by other watch collectors

[–] C00ter1991@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Do you own multiple watches? Sounds like a collection to me

[–] santori9@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Absolutely, casios are great.

Their watches are so good that people (including myself) usually buy multiple of the same version in different colorways.

[–] FinishingDutch@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Collecting is more a matter of intent, rather than the amount of watches or amount spent.

If you actively bought those watches and intend to buy more, you're a collector. Doesn't matter if it's cheap, expensive or a single brand. There's plenty of people who just collect G-Shocks for example.

[–] aberdeja@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah, and for real, i think most of watch enthusiast started to like watches when we where kids because of casio.

[–] FSEUBreakIFix@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Unless they are calculators or keyboards. Then you'd be a Casio calculator or keyboard collector😬

[–] jcooper9099@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I have Casios in my collection. Along with more expensive watches.

My Breitling reminds me of my grandpa.

My Casios remind me of my childhood when a calculator watch was the coolest thing I had ever seen.

It's all about why you collect. Enjoy your collection.

[–] ScottBlues@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No you’re a potato collector.

Honestly what are these questions even lol? Of course you’re a watch collector if you collect watches. The price tag is irrelevant.

[–] laidback26@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Love Casinos for my outdoor activities and camping. The witches are the toughest sobs I have seen and provide really nice features. I love the solar ones that have lights.

[–] TUEB0R@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Do you have more than 3? If so its a collection.

[–] matthewstabstab@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This would make you a “Casio collector”

Now, you can only call yourself a “watch collector” if you also call yourself an “accessory collector”

[–] Tae-gun@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

In a word, yes.

[–] itsallfornaught2@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If the Casios were microwaves then I'd say no but they're watches so yes.

[–] Evening_Carry_146@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Are there microwave collectors? You've inspired me to look into this. Offhand I am betting that there must be a few

It sounds like you're a Casio collector. Which are watches. So I vote yes.

[–] neilcarmo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes, you are a watch collector. I bought a few watches and then thought I wouldn't be a watch collector without a casio. A good watch doesn't have to be a luxury watch.

[–] RSquared787@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You’re a watch collector if you decide you’re a watch collector (and/or if you have at least one watch and are on the hunt for your next one…)

[–] Exadory@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Are they watches? Do you collect them? If yes and yes then you are a watch collector.

[–] fattylimes@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Unfortunately yes.

[–] BigZebra@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You're a watch collector, Harry !

[–] jimmeh22@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You’re a Casio collector

[–] guano-crazy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Casios are cool.

[–] MrDadcore@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Casios are sick bruh. Collect what makes you happy.

[–] Haunting-Ad9507@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes you are

[–] wyndzzy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Depends… are they watches or calculators?

[–] jeffweet@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You are a collector if you have a watch and a dream, and if you say you are, you are.

[–] Coala_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This community is for timekeeping, not gatekeeping. So yes, you're a watch collector. Casios are watches, and you're collecting them.

[–] orangeblueorangeblue@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Collecting is more about mindset and intent than anything else. My wife has multiple watches, but it’s not a collection because she doesn’t intend it to be a collection. I have a bunch of suits to wear for work, but I don’t consider it a collection. The three-watch collection is a recognized trope, and the one-brand variant is a much-discussed variation. If that’s what you consider yourself to have, then you’re a collector.

[–] Manyhigh@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Am I a gardener if I only grow roses?

[–] SpeedySpooley@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Of course you’re a watch collector. I have some $2 flea market Timexes in my collection.

It’s not about price…it’s about collecting something that gives you joy.

Some people collect Ferraris….some people collect Pez dispensers.

[–] cooperS67@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Let’s be real. Casio makes all that a watch necessarily has to be. So respect to that and knowing what you need/want.

[–] bingeingwatches@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] Noodlintheriver@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well, they are watches, so yea.

[–] Temporary_Author6464@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Casio Moonphase, Casio Duro, Casio G shock. There's also the Casioak g shock GA 2100. But honestly with those three first pieces you'll have a solid diverse collection of quartz watches. And that look good on tha wrist to boot.

[–] ZCT808@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes. In the same way as I have a number of items of clothing, therefore I am a clothes collector.

[–] ivanyufen@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

once i chatted with my friend who proudly said he is a watch collector, with collection consist of casio, alba, and alexandre christie (kind of fashion watch here in southeast asia). It's not about the brand, as long as you genuinely smile every time you look at your wrist.

[–] ThePhoenixRisesAgain@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I wouldn’t consider you a collector. But I wouldn’t consider myself a collector. And I have like 5 luxury watches. But hey, these are 5 off the shelf Rolex, IWC… that’s not collecting for me. That’s owning some nice watches. You own some nice Casios. That’s cool!

[–] sofritoti@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Are you a wine drinker if you drink pinot noir?

[–] yonimanko@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] sheesh_doink@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hell yeah man. I've collected and been a nerd for watches for a long long time and Casios are some of the best watches you can get. If you're curious about other brands it's definitely worth it to get some divertisy in a collection, but if Casio is your thing then Casio is your thing, and that's awesome :)

Out of all my watches, my top 3 worn are all Casios

[–] FarookWu@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Damn skippy! Welcome to the Halls of Collecting!

[–] CharmingCondition508@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

they are watches. you collect them.

[–] Velocitor1729@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Casio and Seiko are the gateway drugs to watch collecting.

[–] TWhyEye@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How dare you. Shame. You seem more like an enthusiast not a collector.

[–] ffdfawtreteraffds@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Absolutely. Casio make some tremendous bang for the buck watches that are worth collecting. I'm personally looking to get an Oceanus. Again, a tremendous value for what you get.

[–] dpol27@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes you are! Now add a G-Shock!
