You must be accustomed to bass-heavy headphones. Did you use wireless headphones before getting the DT1990? Almost all wireless cans have a significant bass shelf, which the DT1990 doesn't have, so it's bass will be quieter. Better quality though

There is no denying that different streaming services sound different too

Need to try this a bit more before concluding, but yeah there's a tangible difference. But even when Qobuz is playing 44.1kHz it still sounds better on the same track than Spotify which is interesting

I've always liked bass-tilted headphones, the Denon AH-D5200 being my favourite pair.

But only in the last few days have I heard great QUALITY bass. I shifted from Spotify to Qobuz, and upgraded from the Topping DX3 Pro to the Topping A30 Pro.

The dynamic swings are so much more dramatic, and the bass is so much more textured. It's not just a wall of bass anymore, like it has a sense of space now.

While the change in streaming service has no doubt played a part in this, I am now firmly in the camp of "different amps/dacs make a difference". It must have something to do with voltage swings. And don't tell me the volume isn't matched, because it is, I measured it with a mic.

Commenting to get this noticed... That's the first time I've heard such a thing

Of course we all do all of these, but what's the most common method for you?

yeah ik but just checked it's original price, it was $2.5k :o

Also this device kinda seems cool imo, a semi powerful amp with a dap embedded in it is a cool idea

You got the same cable and same wood headphone stand as I do! Good choices

K702 is looser? OK that gives me confidence that I'll be fine with the 109 Pro as the former stays on my head just fine.

Hi guys,

So I've been searching for an upgrade to my setup for quite some time now. Considered the Focal Elex, then the Clear, then the ZMF Auteur and finally landed on the Meze 109 Pro.

This headphone seems perfect to me. However, one thing does worry me slightly. I have a small head at 21.5-22 inches, and have heard that the suspension strap tension and overall clamp force is quite low on the 109 Pro.

I'm worried that these will endlessly slip off my head, and may even affect sealing. Question is, is there anything I can do to increase the clamp force, increase the tension of the strap or just any other way to make sure these stay in the same place on my tiny noggin?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm a writer, and this was beautifully written. Bravo!
