A patent makes no sense here, an overlay on a screen is something computers have done for decades. I certainly can't imagine how anyone could have a patent for something done by the bespoke hardware of each camera manufacturer.

I assume then you're using Linux?

Very cool. Can't hurt to give it a whirl, I think you can save a bit if you commit to a whole year at a time, I don't quite recall though.

I'm a hobbyist, the Lightroom and Photoshop subscription has well been worth if to me. People here always go on about how their copy of cs6 will never expire, while I smile and nod with my gpu-accelerated, ai-enhanced super tool that does in minutes for a hundred photos what takes them hours in Photoshop.

Can you repost all this images as sanely sized jpg? I'm not scrounging through a bunch of folders on mega measuring in the 10's of megabytes and I don't know who would. All of this could be replaced with a single imgur gallery with labeled images.

Beyond that, photoshop has an Align Layers function which can do various geometry corrections to align images with pretty solid results, have you tried that? I don't know if it applies to your need though because again, your choice of upload format and host is not great.

You can't just blast light through a slide and get an image, you need a lens to focus it. It'd be like trying to take a photo without a lens on your camera.
