Happy Birthday! I just got my first Big Girl Watch yesterday too which is also a Cartier! My bf and I have been shopping for engagement watches for awhile now. I thought I wanted the Tank Louis but it was a bit too expensive and I actually didn't like the way it wore on my wrist in person. But I ended up falling in love with the Santos-Dumont with the Rose Gold bezel and steel case in the store so that's what I got. I can't stop staring at it, I love it so much! I love how classic it looks and it feels like it goes with any outfit I have. Yours is gorgeous!

I don't have many luxury/more expensive watches in my collection yet. I have a handful of casios and G-Shocks that are all in the $20 to $100 range and a nice citizen eco-drive I got myself last year that was like $300 and I wear them all pretty equally. My Citizen is more of a dress watch, so I tend to wear my casios and g-shocks more everyday. My boyfriend and I are currently shopping for engagement watches in the 6k-7k range. I'm excited to get and wear it and I'll definitely wear it a lot, but I'm still planning on wearing my casio watches and my citizen too. I bought my Citizen watch for myself as a celebratory gift for paying off my student loans and the sentimentality of it that is nice to be reminded of, even if I own a much more expensive watch that I could wear too. I think if your dad is the kind of person who appreciates thoughtful gifts he'd definitely wear it! It's the thought that counts imo.
I understand! I looked for MONTHS as well! Here's a pic if you're interested in seeing it! The dial looks so different in different lighting its so interesting. I was waiting to post on this sub until my bf got his Grand Seiko he wants for his engagement watch!
