Conservatives. The type that don't support abortion because "think of the children!", but fly flags on their vehicles that say "Fuck Trudeau" with children walking down the sidewalk and sitting in the cars beside them.

Some plastic is recyclable. Not sure what you're getting at.

Can we stop complaining about progress?

Yes, you're right, there are bigger issues. Doesn't mean we can't celebrate the small victories. Any and all waste reduction is a good thing.

What is the typical per-user income that the dev gets from ads -- say in a year? Take that, multiply by 5 or 10, and it seems like that would be a reasonable one-time payment.

Pennies. People think you're making a ton because some YouTubers make millions, but the reality is you get paid $0.006 per ad click.

I just wanted to say I'm sorry for the backslash you're getting for charging money.

I'm also sorry people expect it to be $1 because the Reddit app was $1 back in 1825. I genuinely believe it's children complaining, because no functioning adult would complain about a price increase when rent has tripled or quadrupled since the $1 Reddit app. It's also annoying to see that people think that saying they bought the Reddit app for $1 and enjoyed it for 10 years is an argument. It goes to show it was severely underpriced.

It must be frustrating to have that type of response. Lemmy users seem to be really entitled when it comes to software, and the response you're getting scares me for the future. I really hope the Boost developer doesn't cancel his app after seeing how entitled Lemmy users are being right now.

What frustrates me more is the people complaining are continuing to use the free open source apps. Like great, you already have an alternative you prefer. Shut up. Stop bringing others down.

I wish you the best. Thank you for choosing to develop for Lemmy. I have my eyes on Boost, but I'm gladly using your free tier for the time being.

Thanks again!

No one said you can't. Just don't be surprised when prices aren't 2015 prices.

[–] Polar@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 year ago (2 children)

That's cool. 60 cent can of tomato soup now costs $3.50

My rent went from $850 to $2300

Do you think you should pay 2015 prices in 2023?

Is this the same Xplorenet that charged me double to put in a pole 2x the height so I could get their 25Mbps package, then EXACTLY after the 30 day refund period ended dropped my connection down to 1Mbps, and when I called to complain they told me my satellite isn't getting good enough signal for 25Mbps, and I would need to drop down to their 10Mbps package.

So I dropped down to their 10Mbps to test, because they promised me it would work. When it didn't, I asked for them to return me to their 25Mbps package, to which they replied they can't..

So I had to take months complaining to the CRTC to get my $800 double installation price refunded, and after I did Xplorenet cancelled my internet and blacklisted my address?

And to top it all off, they block windows updates, and the only way to update your computer is to use a VPN to hide your traffic?

Is that the same Xplore? Ya. Good luck. You make Bell and Rogers look like perfect angels.

I told someone I don't believe in their magical sky creature, I believe in science. They told me the "magical sky creature created science", so then I asked why they are against science if their God created it?

Never got a response. Religion is just picking and choosing your way through life while using a magical sky creature as your scape goat.

Bro, there are cannabis shops on every damn corner. There are legit more cannabis shops than coffee shops where I am from.

No shit they can't stay a float. Plus I see new ones opening all the time, DIRECTLY BESIDE already established ones.

I swear these people must get high before coming up with the great idea of starting a cannabis shop in Canada.

They're not anti theft devices. Never were. They are anti losing my shit devices.

Slap one on your keys, wallet, etc, and when you lose them, you can track them to see where they ended up falling out of your pocket.

If you want a tracking device, pay for one. They'll use a SIM card, be undetectable, and track perfectly without needing a network of phones.
