I've used several different pcie to nvme adapters, including cheap Amazon ones. They're doing pretty much nothing except connecting the pcie traces from the NVMe drive to your pcie interface.
They've all been reliable and work well.
I had the exact same thought... our heat is set to 20 most of the time. 25 would be hot!
