Bro bout to get absolutely colonized!

I mean, sure but Dems only really have a chance because Republicans continue to run the shuttiest candidates imaginable. That is absolutely true

Like, Obama won partly because McCain chose to run with Palin. It's not the only reason he won, but it's silly to think it wasn't a major factor - especially considering everything we know about white American voters, that's been made just as clear as it ever could be. I bet it was a tough decision for some/many Americans

I've always wished I could feel like the choice in a general election was a hard decision, but alas I'm working class and brown (and believe in science)

Anyone know if The Finals counts as a "live service" game? It's free to play and I think it's fantastic - both the game and the fact it's free.

I just don't play games enough to justify the huge asking prices anymore. The last games I paid for were COD MW2 and Cyberpunk and I doubt I'll ever drop $70+ for a game again, especially when there's games like splitgate and whatnot that are free (not that I ever tried the new one. lol)

Idk how it could. Haven't tons of companies been announcing layoffs for like tens of thousands of workers for a few years now?

Yeah, I couldn't believe the ridiculous narrative either. After the reading the article though, it at least makes some sense for me as a Mexican-American dude. It's mainly white people doing better and I guess that totally tracks (also helps explains why so many people here are ready to believe it). I honestly sometimes forget to remind myself "American" hardly ever means all Americans

That said, it's wild how little discussion there is on this here and how any mention of frustration with the accepted narrative results in others thinking you're just a bitter idiot, or something

My memory is fuzzy, didn't they just make Mr Garrison the coolest he'd ever been before, at least from like the average white American guy's point of view? Were they ever actually being critical?

I assumed they were trying to play both sides since most trump fans wouldn't be able to tell it was satire, similar to Colbert's old show, and they could just say it's not their fault if their "message" was missed by most people that watched it.

Dude, conservatives are literally ~~burning~~ banning books everywhere in the country where they have power. They've even banned books meant to encourage girls to learn how to code. Real bananas stuff, imo

I appreciate you're trying to communicate well and you seem authentic and all, but it's very difficult to take your position seriously when it feels like you're not trying to challenge your own beliefs. There's a ton of evidence of conservative censorship going as far back as McCarthyism and interment camps, to rock and roll and rap music, to even burning comic books in the 50s, and that's just thinking of the US. There's a very long history of white conservative Christians censoring almost everything popular going back like hundreds of years

As a personal anecdote, my cousin had to break his pokemon gameboy games and burn his pokemon cards because his ~~dipshit mom~~ abusive mother thought they were satanic, simply because her church said so. I got some cool, holographic cards out of it, but I never forgot how messed up that was

Isn't that explicitly why we manufacture so many of our things there? Isn't that where most iPhones are still made? What's the difference here?

[–] Psychodelic@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago

Since we're assuming things, is this like incel humor?

I agree! We should look to what is acceptable in China to learn what we should deem acceptable in the US. We should do this despite everything we know and have learned about China. Who needs to actually understand what young people like about the app anyway? We should just make sure only the oldest and most decrepit among us weigh in on this issue

Bring back the comics code authority! Don't ever talk your kids about the media they consume! And for sure never learn from your history (granted, comics were an American thing, but Americans legit couldn't simply ask their kids what theyr were reading about and basically still can't)

/s (sorry I struggle with communication and sarcasm was easier)
