In Japan I saw like 5 year olds taking the morning train by themselves to school

I double checked that it was an @amazon.com address. The annoying thing was that this email address they sent it to is a new one that I don't use everywhere, but they somehow got it.

an instance admin typically is admin'ing the database. they can run whatever database query they want.

I've blocked quite a bit. But mostly NSFW stuff and bot accounts. Only a few communities that don't fit that - mostly ones I thought were annoying

I have relatives who would get headaches if they didn't get it. People's bodies respond differently.

I don't. I recently logged in just to see what i was missing. More than half my front page was ads, the next 30% was repost bots posting the generic questions for engagement. There were maybe 2-3 posts that were actual posts. I left.

Big Tech killed the news. 2.5 newspapers closed each week on average in 2023. And 500 journalists were laid off in January alone. It's because the tech giants are siphoning billions of dollars in ad revenue. Now the DOJ is finally taking them on.

It was a good first gen phone, but you definitely did better by waiting for the 920. That think was darn near indestructable.

There's a common thing known as "judge shopping". The big wigs and those with enough money can ensure that a trial goes to a court in an area that is likely to be favorable to their interests.

For example, if a company is going to court because of something environmental or anti-worker, they'll try to get the court session held in a conservative jurisdiction.

Just four airlines control 80% of the airline industry — the most concentrated it’s ever been. And they’re using their power over consumers, and airports, to jack up prices. But this small airport in Missoula, Montana, is showing how to break the major carriers’ stranglehold.

Edit/Update: It turns out that my last name has a capitol letter in the middle and they put a space in it. Thank god. I can actually vote this year.

This is probably the wrong place for this, but is there any intention to have something like super communities, where the same community exists on multiple instances but is treated like just one?

Ie, if you sub to asklemmy on world, you see content from whatever other servers have asklemmy.
